First 28 Minutes of 28 Years Later Spark Rave Reviews: A Certified Banger

This month, the horror sequel is set to hit theaters at last. Before its official release, a special screening was organized and showcased the initial 28 minutes of the movie. Reactions from this early viewing have started appearing online. Although it’s yet to be determined how critics and audiences will ultimately feel about the entire film, it appears that 28 Years Later left quite an impact on those who watched the first half-hour.

Brandon Davis expressed in a post on X that he watched the initial 28 minutes of “28 Years Later“. If the remainder of the film maintains this quality, it’s undoubtedly a “Truly Outstanding Movie” for him! The opening immediately plunges viewers back into a harsh world filled with raw artistry, rage, and intriguing new characters. It sets a compelling foundation for an engaging new storyline. Impressive indeed!

Another X post stated, “28 overwhelming minutes of 28 YEARS LATER. Impossible not to want more.”

Someone mentioned that they’ve watched the initial 28 minutes of ‘[28 Years Later]’, and it seems we’re in store for a thrilling journey based on this preview. The movie appears to plunge us back into the familiar world as if no time has passed.

28 Years Later Reunites Danny Boyle and Alex Garland

Alex Garland opted out of the initial sequel to 28 Days Later, titled 28 Weeks Later, but they collaborated again for a continuation called 28 Years Later. This new film kicks off a fresh trilogy. The upcoming movie, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, is penned by Garland and directed by Nia DaCosta. It’s set to hit theaters in January, having been filmed concurrently with 28 Years Later. A third part of this new trilogy is currently being developed.

In the sequel titled “28 Years Later“, set nearly three decades after the original movie’s events, a family lives in a relatively safe sanctuary on an island. The father and son, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Alfie Williams respectively, explore the outside world, with Jodie Comer joining them as their mother. Additionally, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and Erin Kellyman are part of the cast. Although original star Cillian Murphy is serving as an executive producer, it’s unlikely he will reprise his role as Jim in “28 Years Later“, but there may be a chance for him to appear.

Just as with many enjoyable aspects of life, there might be a brief delay before he shows up, as Boyle mentioned earlier in the Sony CinemaCon presentation regarding Murphy’s reappearance.

28 Years Later hits the big screen on June 20, 2025. The sequel, titled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, is set for release on January 16, 2026.
