The show Fire Country will be back for a fifth season! CBS has renewed it along with nine other series. While the showrunner is leaving, she’s still excited about the renewal.
One week before Fire Country got picked up for Season 5, it was reported by Deadline that Tia Napolitano would be leaving the show after Season 4. She’s been the showrunner and an executive producer since the series premiered in 2022, so the news of her exit was shocking. However, her love for the program is not wavering. When it was revealed that the series would continue beyond the 2026 TV schedule, she posted the following message on Instagram:
I’m incredibly proud and thankful for the amazing cast and crew as we wrap up Season 5! Huge thanks to Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Max Thieriot, KristieAnne Reed, CBS TV, and CBS Studios. I’ll always be a fan and will be rooting for the show next year! #firecountry forever.
Napolitano is central to the success of Fire Country. She’s been the show’s leader since its start, guiding it to become a popular hit and even a full-fledged franchise. Currently in its fourth season under her direction, the spin-off Sheriff Country is also thriving. It’s been renewed for another season, along with Boston Blue, which airs on CBS every Friday.
The showrunner leaving is another big change for the series. Earlier, at the end of Season 3, Stephanie Arcila and Billy Burke—both original cast members—announced they were departing. While Arcila’s character is still alive and she could potentially return after appearing briefly in Season 4, Burke’s character was killed off, making a return unlikely.

Paramount+ offers streaming plans starting at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. You can watch shows from CBS, and upgrade to a premium, ad-free plan for $12.99 a month. See the deal here.
Those two departures have had a significant impact on the show. Sharon and her family are grieving Vince and trying to adjust, while Bode appears to be starting a new romantic relationship after Gabriela left. Given her long involvement with the series, Napolitano’s exit will likely also cause changes in how the show is made.
I’m really happy she’s still a fan of the show and is leaving on good terms. She’s said multiple times how much she loves Fire Country, and she’ll continue to watch as we go into season five.
The show Fire Country is back on CBS on Friday, February 27th at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. You’ll be able to watch it on Paramount+ starting the next day. We’ll also share updates on what’s happening behind the scenes and let you know who will be replacing Tia Napolitano when the fifth season begins.
