Final treasure hunt awaits the Pogues! Outer Banks returning for fifth and final season

As an avid fan who has been sailing the Outer Banks waters for seasons now, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions about the renewal of our beloved series for another round, albeit its final one. The thought of saying goodbye to John B., Sarah, Pope, Cleo, Kiara, and JJ is bittersweet, like leaving shore with a full heart but knowing it’s time to set sail towards new adventures.

For all Pogue fans eagerly counting down the days until Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, when Outer Banks season 4 part 2 hits Netflix, we have fantastic news to break before the release of the final five episodes! The exciting tale continues as Outer Banks has been greenlit for a fifth and final season.

This is definitely bittersweet news. It’s always hard to know that your favorite series is ending, especially one with such a lovable group of friends who always manage to make us laugh, and give us all the feels. But all good things must come to an end at some point. And at least the adventurous story will get the proper ending that it deserves.

Writing on Outer Banks season 5 has begun

According to a recent press statement from Netflix, the writers are currently developing scripts for season 5 of “Outer Banks.” This indicates that the project is still in its initial phases and it seems unlikely that filming will start soon. Consequently, a release date has not been announced yet. It’s plausible that season 5 might be released as late as 2025; however, I suspect that 2026 would be a more reasonable expectation. For now, we can only wait and find out.

In their recent statement, co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke expressed confidence that season 5 will surpass all previous seasons. We share their optimism wholeheartedly too!

Since we’re still waiting for Season 4 Part 2, it remains uncertain where the Outer Banks story will progress. Will John B., Sarah, Pope, Cleo, Kiara, and JJ locate Blackbeard’s Blue Crown and additional riches? Or will their current quest carry over into Season 5? It’s possible that the final season might present one final daring heist for the Pogues, but for now, many questions remain unanswered.

I think it would be better to wrap up the Blackbeard treasure storyline in Outer Banks season 4, and then have one last and big treasure hunt to look forward to in Outer Banks season 5. While El Dorado somehow took three seasons to wrap up. I don’t know. I feel like this storyline would be better off as one season. I mean, if there’s one thing we know about the Pogues it’s that they can’t stay out of trouble. So I’m sure they’ll find a way to get themselves wrapped up in something new no matter how season 4 episode 10 ends.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming premiere of Outer Banks season 4 part 2, which is set to air on Netflix on Thursday, November 7, 2024?
