As an RPG fan, I’m super excited about a new game on Steam! It’s a really cool mix of Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda, and you can actually try it out for free right now before it officially launches. Honestly, even though we’re still in March, this year is already shaping up to be amazing for RPGs. We’re all waiting for big titles like Fable, The Witcher 4, The Elder Scrolls 6, and another Divinity game, but it’s the smaller, surprise releases that are really catching my eye – and this new one definitely fits the bill!
A new RPG called Ghostforged, developed by Wardwell Games, is looking promising. While there’s no official release date yet, players can try a free demo now on Steam. This demo lets you experience the story and gameplay, which draws inspiration from classic RPGs, without spending any money.
Ghostforged Needs To Be On Your Radar
This Game Has Classic JRPG Vibes
I’ve been checking out Ghostforged on Steam, and it looks really cool! It’s a JRPG with a strong story and old-school, turn-based battles – think Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. From what I’ve seen, you play as a team of six heroes trying to save the world from a growing darkness. The game takes place in this kingdom called Embervale, and things started going downhill when this mysterious character, The Mage, showed up.
War continued to devastate the land, and the fallen began to rise as villages were destroyed. The story begins with Prudence, a warrior searching Embervale after her brother, Brennan, was killed in the early battles against The Mage. Along the way, she’ll meet and team up with other heroes – Seraphine, Tristan, Elda, and Cameron – to combat the growing darkness.
The Final Fantasy Vibes Are Strong
Ghostforged Is Inspired By Classic JRPGs
The story feels very similar to classic games like Final Fantasy or The Legend of Zelda, and the gameplay follows that same style. Players will encounter battles unexpectedly, giving them opportunities to improve their characters – just like in older Square Enix games. You can expect to spend around 12 hours playing through the game.
As you play, you’ll be able to improve your characters with more than 80 different skills, giving you lots of options in battle. The developers at Wardwell Games also say the game will feature hidden areas to discover, just like in classic JRPGs.
Ghostforged looks like a promising new JRPG. If you enjoy games like Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda, I recommend trying the free demo on Steam.
