Square Enix and Tencent Games have revealed a technical trial for their forthcoming Android version of the MMORPG titled “Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World” in China, which kicks off on May 23rd, 2025. This new game is derived from the renowned Final Fantasy intellectual property and is currently accepting applications for this upcoming test, with the deadline being May 22nd, 2025.

Developed under the supervision of Square Enix, the game is being crafted by Tencent Games’ affiliate Lightspeed Studios. The project was initially unveiled back in August 2024, with a reveal trailer following in November of the same year. Pre-orders for the iOS version were made available in China as early as April.

Final Fantasy XIV: Crystal World” is an authorized role-playing game for mobile devices, based on the long-running PC version, which has been active for 11 years in the intricate world of Eorzea. As the “Warrior of Light”, you are summoned by the Mothercrystal to fight off the primals and prevent Eorzea from being destroyed.

I’m particularly thrilled about a new mobile Final Fantasy game not just because it’s intriguing in itself, but mainly due to the diverse array of playable races, each boasting unique appearances and backstories, and an impressive 11 crafting and gathering classes. To make things even more enticing, at the game’s launch, you can pick from 9 jobs, and with the Armoury system, you have the freedom to change jobs whenever you wish.

Another thrilling aspect of this game, aside from its intense battles, is that it offers numerous other activities such as participating in chocobo races or playing the Triple Triad card game at Gold Saucer. Moreover, I’m personally looking forward to designing a comfortable home, experiencing seasonal events, personalizing my character with different outfits, and much more.

This private, selective testing phase will feature premium content, and applications for participation are being accepted until May 22, 2025.
