Final Destination Bloodlines Shocks Fans by Ending 19-Year Debate on Canon Deaths!

Revives the iconic horror series, which has been absent for 14 years since the last installment. Furthermore, it resolves a debate among fans that has lingered for nearly two decades.

In the year 2006, the movie “Final Destination 3” included an interactive DVD game called “Choose Their Fate,” enabling fans to alter the characters’ destinies. This game also showcased a newspaper that appeared to predict the deaths of AJ Cook and Thomas Burke (Michael Landes), who were the only ones to survive, detailing their fates. However, it was later confirmed by “Final Destination” franchise producer Craig Perry in an interview that this newspaper article was not part of the series’ canon or official storyline.

In “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” a film brimming with nods to its franchise past, William Bludworth subtly suggests that Kimberly and Thomas somehow cheated death by returning to life. This implies that these characters are still very much alive in the cinematic universe, contrary to their apparent demise as depicted in earlier installments. For nearly two decades, fans have been at odds over the nature of their deaths in bonus material on the DVD release. However, with Perry’s latest confirmation, it is now clear that their deaths were indeed not part of the series’ canonical timeline.

According to the producer, what you’ve seen isn’t part of the established storyline. He also explained why the newspaper hinted at a different conclusion. “Have you ever wondered about it? Well, here’s the reason: Originally, AJ Cook and Michael Landes were meant to be on that train in FD5. The ending of FD5 was actually intended to be the ending of FD3, where they all perished on that train.

The plan wasn’t realized either, as the cast were prepared but scheduling conflicts, particularly since it involved reshoots, proved challenging to coordinate, thereby preventing us from carrying out the reshoots on time and making it impossible for it to occur.

Perry went on to explain, “Ultimately, this concept surfaced in FD5. However, we felt it was necessary to conclude those characters’ stories, so we utilized bonus content and depicted something descending, which is essentially what it represents. Therefore, we don’t consider it canonical since it was more of an improvised solution to neatly wrap up the narrative under our limited resources.

Kimberly Might Return to the Final Destination Universe

As a die-hard fan of the “Final Destination” series, I must admit that although the character didn’t have a significant role in the previous films, her brief appearance in “Final Destination 3” and subsequent mention in the latest installment have certainly left me hopeful for more. She might not be back right now, but who knows what the future holds? In fact, during a recent interview, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the actress who plays the character, hinted at a possible comeback, but only under three specific conditions.

He remarked, “You know, it’s not impossible. We’re in sequel territory, after all. But if we were to consider bringing Kimberly back, it would require finding the right approach that respects her character, appeals to her as an artist, and contributes significantly to the plot without feeling like fan service. That’s a delicate balance, I must admit.

He went on saying, “Indeed, the door seems wide open, but we must ensure it’s the appropriate action before we delve deeper into it.

Final Destination Bloodlines is out in theaters.
