Final Destination: Bloodlines director reveals “record-breaking” premonition scene

The movie, titled “Final Destination Bloodlines“, hasn’t hit theaters yet, but it has already made an impressive mark by setting a notable record with its opening scene.

The upcoming horror movie, which is the sixth installment of its series, will be helmed by directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, with a unique narrative structure that unfolds across various time periods.

In the film, a series of foreshadowing incidents leading to catastrophic events begin as early as 1969, featuring 71-year-old Yvette Ferguson – the eldest person ever to perform a stunt involving being set on fire for the cameras.

In a revival from their previous careers, the actor and stuntperson returned to work on a scene portraying Mrs. Fuller, a victim of a massive blaze in a restaurant situated high above the Skyview Tower, which exists only in fiction, standing at 400 feet tall.

As a gamer putting the pieces together, I can’t help but share an extraordinary story. In this game we call life, my team and I ignited numerous individuals, setting a new world record for the oldest person to go up in flames – none other than Yvette Ferguson! She dazzled us all, blazing brightly while donning her silver gown.

“That was the oldest person ever on fire, on camera,” Lipovsky added.

Regarding Ferguson, she expressed in her Instagram Stories that the scene was “one of my most cherished stunts throughout my career,” by re-sharing a snapshot from the movie.

She playfully replied, ‘I’d love to repeat it! What a blast I’m having at my age!'” (to the fan’s comment on her Instagram post)

Brec Bassinger, who plays in Bloodlines, was nearby when the stunt happened and expressed, “I was close to Ferguson. Wow, it was amazing! People began applauding… She was absolutely thrilled.

As an ardent admirer, let me express that Sabrina Bassinger skillfully embodies Iris Campbell, the grandmother to the character Stefani Lewis (played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana). This college student is plagued by recurring nightmares that hint at a potential catastrophic fate for her entire family.

Bloodlines is penned by horror screenwriter Guy Busick with Lori Evans Taylor.

Busick often works in partnership with the directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. He has contributed to or co-authored scripts for movies such as Ready or Not, Scream (2022), Scream VI, Abigail, and more.

Among his future works, you’ll find he’s involved in projects such as “Scream 7” and the sequel titled “Here I Come”, where he collaborates once more with R Christopher Murphy, who was his partner in the scriptwriting of “Ready or Not”.

Final Destination: Bloodlines releases on 14 May in the UK and 16 May in the US.
