Take on Fighting-type Raid bosses during a special Raid Day in Pokémon GO.

Details are now available regarding the anticipated Sparring Partners Raid Day in Pokemon GO. There’s been much discussion about potential features since it was announced as part of the April Content roadmap graphic.

It was speculated that Keldeo might make a comeback in the game, or perhaps something related to Kubfu and its evolutions. Regrettably, neither of these scenarios are happening. But don’t let this dampen your spirits! This Raid Day offers bonuses for diving in, which can aid you in leveling up.

Here are all the event details you need to know:

There will be three featured Pokémon

On the occasion of the Sparring Partners Raid Day, we’ll have three highlight Pokémons, a departure from our regular Raid Day approach in Pokémon GO. Among them, two will be typical Pokémons, while the third one will undergo Mega Evolution.

They are:

  • Mega Heracross
  • Hariyama
  • Scraggy

New featured move

As a die-hard Pokémon fan, I must admit that while these particular Pokémons aren’t exactly the most thrilling ones to make their reappearance, they do hold a special place in my heart. Scraggy and Hariyama have been staples of the game for quite some time now, often popping up as Wild Spawns.

In summary, the three highlighted Pokémon can acquire the Charged Attack called “Upper Hand” during the event as well as later on. It’s important to note that this move isn’t exclusive to the event; any Pokémon you may have caught previously can learn it using a regular TM (Teaching Machine).

Sparring Partners Raid Day Pokémon GO Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be active during the Sparring Partners Raid Day:

  • Remote Raid Pass limit will increase to 20 from Saturday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
  • Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of six).
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Heracross, Hariyama, and Scraggy from Raids.

During the event, you’ll additionally find a complimentary Time-Bound Research option. This feature offers extra rewards such as additional bonuses.

At the event, there’s also a bonus Time-Limited Research up for grabs. It provides even more perks, including extra bonuses.

  • 10,000 Stardust
  • 1,000 additional Stardust for completing a Raid Battle for a total of 2,000 Stardust (3,000 Stardust with the event ticket)

Sparring Partners Raid Day Pokémon GO Event ticket

On this Raid Day, you can expect the standard admission ticket, which costs $5. This ticket comes with some extra perks as well.

For the Raid Day, there will be the regular entry pass available for $5. This pass offers additional advantages too.

  • Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 14)
  • Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
  • 50% more XP from Raid Battles
  • 2× Stardust from Raid Battles

These bonuses will be effective on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
