Festive drama with a stacked cast including “some of Britain’s best-loved stars” is on TV tonight

Okay, so Channel 4 is dropping a new Christmas drama tonight and it looks awesome! It’s got a bunch of actors I recognize from British TV, and they’re calling it heartwarming and funny. The main character, Chris, is played by Lenny Rush – you might know him from Doctor Who – and he’s 16 years old who still believes in Santa! I’m definitely checking this out.

Chris doesn’t want to believe his dad when he tries to explain the truth about Santa Claus. Determined to prove Santa is real, Chris teams up with his cousin Holly to go on an adventure and find evidence.

The story follows Chris as he uncovers a Christmas conspiracy. He encounters a group of scientists and intellectuals who claim to know the real story behind Santa and believe they’ve figured out the scientific explanation for his seemingly magical abilities.

Chris meets lots of people dressed as Santa and those who study him on his journey, but will he actually discover the real Father Christmas?

The movie, which offers a mix of comedy, adventure, and heartwarming moments, will be shown tonight, Tuesday, December 24th, at 7:30 PM on Channel 4.

The film Finding Father Christmas features James Buckley, known from The Inbetweeners, as Chris’s father, and also includes Greg Davies, Asim Chaudhry, and Rochenda Sandall, all of whom appear on Taskmaster.

Stephen Fry, known from The Celebrity Traitor, is joined by Hannah Fry, Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock, and Jason Fox.

Executive Producer Kenton Allen described the show as a heartwarming story about believing in the magic of Christmas, and the importance of family.

Mark Chappell wrote a fantastic script and assembled a wonderful cast – including some of the biggest names in comedy and beloved actors – to tell a story that’s both hilarious and heartwarming. We’re excited for Channel 4 viewers to see it this Christmas.

Channel 4’s major holiday offering for 2025 is “Dear Father Christmas.” This show, written by Mark Chappell, combines family-friendly humor, touching moments, and a fun exploration of the science behind Santa Claus, all brought to life by a fantastic cast of well-known British actors, according to Jonah Weston, Commissioning Editor Specialist Factual.

This movie is packed with happiness, excitement, and magic, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy it this Christmas.

Finding Father Christmas airs on Channel 4 on Tuesday 24 December at 7.30pm.
