Ferrari’s First EV Comes From the Mind of Legendary Apple Designer Jony Ive

Summary

  • Ferrari is partnering with LoveFrom to design its first fully electric car, a vehicle that many are eagerly awaiting.

  • With four motors, this vehicle produces an incredible 1,050 horsepower and 5,716 pound-feet of torque, distributed to all four wheels for maximum grip.

  • Okay, so the new version is really streamlined and makes a lot more sense. The biggest change? It finally lets you play with a full five-player team, which is awesome! I’ve been waiting for that for ages.

Ferrari is partnering with Jony Ive’s design firm, LoveFrom, to create the Ferrari Luce, the company’s first all-electric car. Revealed today in Rome, the Luce represents a fresh take on Ferrari’s design and construction, combining the brand’s powerful racing technology with a sleek, minimalist style inspired by Apple’s design principles.

LoveFrom, a company founded by Jony Ive and Marc Newson, collaborated with Ferrari’s design team to create a sleek, aerodynamic shape. This focus on airflow resulted in the most drag-reducing design Ferrari has ever achieved. The car’s exterior includes features like active shutters, doors that open in the middle, a unique front end, and a distinctive rear pillar. Despite being slightly longer than the Purosangue V12 model, it sits 95mm lower, giving it a more powerful and grounded appearance.

Underneath its aluminum exterior, this vehicle features a new 800V electrical system and a large 122-kWh battery pack that’s built into the car’s structure. It’s powered by four powerful electric motors – based on the F80 design – which deliver a total of 1,035 horsepower, with more power sent to the rear wheels. These motors spin incredibly fast – 30,000 rpm at the front – allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 193 mph.

The interior of the car offers a fresh take on luxury driving, prioritizing a clean, visually appealing design over complicated digital features. Instead of relying on frustrating touchpads, like many other electric vehicles, it features physical buttons, knobs, and steering wheel-mounted controls to easily switch between driving modes – Range, Tour, and Performance.

The Ferrari Luce will be available in Europe starting in late 2026, and will arrive in the United States in the spring of 2027 through authorized Ferrari dealerships.
