Fern Britton, 67, finally reveals the two life-changing things she did to lose five stone amid Ozempic rumours

Fern Britton has at last disclosed the two transformative actions she took to shed approximately 31 kilograms (5 stone) in weight.

For many years, the TV host, who is now 67, has openly discussed her battles with weight, shifting from a size 12 to a size 22 and back again throughout her career.

According to Fern, she claims that she’ve shed pounds naturally, with no assistance from Ozempic. She attributes this change to two things: eliminating sugar from her meals and attending early morning fitness classes at 6am, along with gradually progressing towards a 5K run through the couch to 5K program.

She shared with Woman&Home magazine, “Frequently, people question if the weight loss occurred naturally when someone has shed a significant amount of pounds.

‘And I can look at you and say, “Yes, I have”‘.

Fern reflected on the powerful moment she decided to take back control of her health.

18 months past, she underwent a shoulder replacement surgery. Over two and a half years prior to that, when she consulted with the surgeon, he informed her, “I will completely replace your shoulder, I’ll meet you again in a year.

Reflecting upon it, I realized that I must regain control over my life. I have to quit smoking, cut down on alcohol, manage my diet better, and cease dwelling in bed with self-pity.

I embarked on the Couch to 5k program, reduced my sugar intake by around 80 percent, and began paying attention to what I eat – something I hadn’t done before.

5 years ago, the presenter made a permanent shift to her Cornish vacation residence, where she gradually undertook renovations.

In a departure from her usual pace, it took author Fern a full two years to pen “A Cornish Legacy,” her 11th novel – a project that typically takes half the time.

For quite some time now, Fern’s had a knack for storytelling; it was only in the year 2011 that she published her debut novel titled New Beginnings, which came about two years following her departure from This Morning.

Since the onset of Covid, she has been exceptionally productive in her writing endeavors. In 2020, she published Daughters Of Cornwall, followed by The Good Servant two years later. The eagerly awaited A Cornish Legacy is scheduled for release in June.

In her past, Fern was married to Clive Jones and they have two thirty-one-year-old sons named Harry and Jack. She also has a twenty-seven-year-old daughter named Grace from the same marriage. In another relationship with Phil Vickery, she gave birth to a twenty-three-year-old daughter called Winnie.

Since breaking up with TV chef Phil, who is 63, in 2020 following a relationship spanning 20 years, Fern has maintained a low profile and kept her personal life away from the public eye.

Recently, she acknowledged that she experiences feelings of loneliness, but she’s not actively seeking a romantic relationship five years after her separation.

2020 marked a pivotal turning point for me, as my 20-year journey with this special someone reached its conclusion. The untimely demise of my beloved parents left me yearning to chart my destiny independently, leading us both down separate roads.

She told Woman & Home: ‘I’m not looking for love – I’m still a bit too wary of losing my liberty. 

In summary, since there’s no one around to consult with, and considering past experiences where such consultations didn’t yield favorable results, it seems wiser for me to make my own decisions. That way, I alone bear the responsibility if things go awry.

Following my departure from This Morning in 2009, where I built a strong presence alongside Philip Schofield for nearly a decade, I transitioned into the realm of authoring. However, Holly Willoughby took over my role thereafter.

It’s also known that during their partnership on Mr and Mrs from 2008 to 2010, she was allegedly receiving £250,000 less per year than Phil, and he was making three times her annual salary at the time.
