As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in the film industry and a particular affection for period pieces, I must say that the Venice International Film Festival never fails to deliver an extraordinary lineup of films that push boundaries and challenge audiences. The Brutalist, directed by Brady Corbet and starring Felicity Jones and Joe Alwyn, is no exception.

On Sunday, during the Venice International Film Festival in Italy, the leading stars, Felicity Jones and Joe Alwyn, spearheaded the red-carpet appearances at the photo session for their movie titled The Brutalist.

40-year-old actress gracefully stepped onto the red carpet wearing a stylish black-and-white dress with a belt, paired with sleek black strappy shoes.

Felicity accessorized sparingly while wearing a backless dress, and she pulled her beautiful brown hair into a low ponytail. This screen actress kept her look simple.

She was joined by fellow actor Joe, 33, who looked equally stylish in an all black ensemble, consisting of a black shirt and suit with boots.

Among the 21 films vying for the esteemed Golden Lion award at the festival, “The Brutalist,” helmed by Brady Corbet, is one contender.

The Post-War Epic chronicles the journey of a Holocaust survivor striving to establish a new existence in America.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to express that in my own words: “I believe this movie embodies the tangible effects of the 20th century’s traumas. It’s an ode to the visionary artists whose dreams were left unfulfilled.”

Based on Jean-Louis Cohen’s book “Architecture in Uniform”, the movie featuring Adrien Brody portraying a Hungarian architect is set to debut for the first time worldwide on Sunday.

Spanning decades, The Brutalist tells the story of László Tóth and his attempts to pursue his art after the war in America.

In this production, Brady is portrayed by Tóth, while Felicity takes on the role of his character’s wife, Erzsébet. Struggling financially, they reside in a situation not far from poverty, until a wealthy entrepreneur named Harrison Lee Van Buren (played by Guy Pearce) offers him a significant contract. Additionally, Joe and Alessandro Nivola are among the stars of this production.

Brady said it was a character and a story he felt an ‘immediate kinship and understanding for.’

Sylvia Plachy, his mom who hailed from Hungary, escaped during the 1956 anti-Soviet revolution, and subsequently sought to rebuild her life as an artist by starting anew.

Brody stated, “Though it is not based on actual events, it seems incredibly authentic and genuine to me. This is crucial for me to fully immerse myself in a character and bring it to life.”

Lasting approximately 3 hours and 35 minutes (including a 15-minute break), the film “The Brutalist” made its debut in Venice, creating much anticipation.

As I donned my shades, a wave of emotion washed over me, reflecting off those lenses and onto the pavement beneath my feet. Seven years of blood, sweat, and passion had led me here, standing before the masterpiece that is my creation – my film.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can confidently say that this movie breaks all the supposed rules in cinematic storytelling. You know, those guidelines about what’s “allowed” and what isn’t? Well, this film tosses them out the window. And let me tell you, discussions about runtimes are simply a waste of time when it comes to appreciating this masterpiece.

‘I’ve read great novellas, I’ve read great multi-volume masterpieces,’ Corbet said.

‘Maybe the next thing I make will be about 45 minutes, and I should be allowed to do that. … As Harmony Korine once said, cinema is stuck in the birth canal. And I agree with him.’

2018 saw the premiere of Vox Lux, a controversial film by Corbet, at Venice. The movie features Natalie Portman portraying a pop star who had experienced a school shooting during her teenage years.

He earlier premiered The Childhood of a Leader there.

Brady wrote the script with his wife Mona Fastvold, who is also a filmmaker. Brady thanked the Venice Film Festival for supporting him.

‘When no one was supporting these films, this festival was,’ he said. ‘It made my films possible.’
