Feel-good new series that’s “like Ted Lasso” gets future confirmed

A feel-good series lauded as “charming” and “heartfelt” has been renewed for a second season.

In simpler terms, the movie titled “Stick” features Owen Wilson and Judy Greer. The plot revolves around Pryce Cahill, once a professional golfer, who has transitioned into selling golf clubs.

Seemingly discontent with his current circumstances, it appears that fortune might favor him upon encountering Santi Wheeler, an exceptionally talented golfer who Pryce decides to mentor.

On the very same day the final episode of season one aired on the streaming platform, it was announced that the Apple TV+ series, highly-acclaimed with an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has been renewed for another season.

In an interview with Variety, the star and executive producer expressed, “We all enjoyed working on it immensely. It’s heartening to witness the audience resonating with our creation, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to carry forward the narrative!

Matt Cherniss, who oversees programming for Apple TV+, stated: “From the moment the first season of ‘Stick’ aired, viewers found themselves captivated by the delightful, amusing, and emotionally resonant universe crafted by Jason, Owen, and their talented team this season.

There’s lots more to enjoy for fans of the series, as they will soon get the opportunity to uncover the next part of Pryce Cahill’s story. We’re extremely excited about it!

Jason Keller, both showrunner and executive producer, expressed being moved and deeply respectful due to the response received on Stick.

In a statement, he expressed his excitement about returning for a second season with this enchanting group of actors, under the exceptional leadership of Owen Wilson, and the talented creative team at Apple TV+.

I’m delighted to carry on with this tale! What’s especially exciting is that the renewal for season two gives me a solid reason to hit the golf course even more often. Many thanks, Apple TV+!

Stick received rave reviews, with many critics comparing it to uplifting sports comedy Ted Lasso.

As a fervent admirer, I’d express it like this: “Much like ‘Ted Lasso,’ this tale isn’t shy about sending its imperfect characters on an emotionally charged comedic journey over fairways and rugged terrain, through the woods and into sand traps. It ultimately sets them all up for a chance at happiness.

RogerEbert.com remarks: “It’s a strong and fulfilling attempt that could stretch over multiple seasons.
