Fearne Cotton Embraces New Era After Split: Bold Style & Healing Journey

On a Friday outing in London, Fearne Cotton showcased her unique fashion flair.

In spite of the cold weather, the presenter, aged 43, who recently divorced her husband Jesse Wood after a decade of marriage, ventured out for the day.

Fearne donned a vibrant red plaid coat and a striking printed scarf before hopping onto a motorcycle, making quite an impression.

The former BBC Radio 1 star teamed her look with a fun printed handbag and green ankle boots.

Recently, Fearne announced that she has entered a ‘new chapter’ following the revelation that she and Jesse decided to part ways.

In 2014, they tied the knot, and since then, they have a son, Rex, who is now 11 years old, and a daughter, Honey, aged eight. Additionally, Fearne plays the role of stepmother to Arthur, 21, and Lola, 18, who are his children from a previous marriage.

In a conversation with wellness brand Ancient + Brave, Fearne expressed that as her kids are growing up, she feels like she’s entered a new phase. Small things like taking a walk, especially when she’s juggling multiple recordings or writing deadlines, bring her joy, especially if she can fit in an hour of walking while listening to lovely music that uplifts her mood.

Typically, that alone helps me recharge a bit. However, what I aim for currently is saying ‘no’ to myself, scheduling some leisure time instead, and allowing myself to unwind a bit.

For me, balance means shifting back from an overly scheduled life, where everything felt structured, to finding a harmonious blend between work, rest, and play.

Experiencing delightful times of merriment with the folks I cherish is something that truly rejuvenates me, and it feels fantastic!

Last December, I found myself facing a double challenge: dealing with the painful dissolution of my marriage to Jesse Wood and undergoing a surgical procedure to excise two harmless growths from my jawline. Quite the rollercoaster ride!

She admitted she is ‘so grateful to be healing’ as she showed off the scar running down her ear.

She titled her post: “Amazing what the human body can do! Within just under three weeks, the surgery site is hardly visible. I’m feeling remarkably well, though my ear remains numb and my face is sensitive to touch. Apart from that, I’m doing quite well.

In simpler terms, ‘Professor Oflynn, my surgeon, put me at ease tremendously, while all the nurses were like heaven-sent helpers. Among them, Nurse Jackie stood out, checking on me to rest instead of using my phone and such. At moments, I needed a gentle yet firm reminder from her.’

I’m thankful for my swift recovery, and I’ll carry this scar as a badge of honor. It serves as a constant reminder for me to take it easy and prioritize self-care.

Before undergoing a surgical procedure, Fearne chose not to disclose her personal marital issues with her followers and instead shared: “Hi everyone! I’ll be taking a short break because I need surgery. I discovered a lump below my ear on my jawline some time ago, but it was only this year that I noticed it was growing.

It seems that it’s a non-cancerous growth, along with another minor one found near the salivary gland. I find myself staying optimistic about this situation and intend to use this time for relaxation and slowing things down significantly.

If you notice a lump, bump, or anything unusual that makes you feel uneasy, don’t hesitate to have it examined. I’m really grateful I chose to do so because delaying checks can lead to complications.

It’s incredibly strange how just a few months back, Davina shared with me about her tumor, and then I found out about mine, weeks later while on the phone with her. Not only am I fortunate that she’s an amazing friend, but also a source of hope and positivity in these challenging circumstances.

Later on, I shared some good news: ‘The operation turned out successfully. Currently, I am recuperating and taking it easy. I want to express my deepest gratitude for all the heartwarming messages you’ve sent.’

On Caroline Hirons’ podcast last year, Fearne finally opened up about her separation from Jesse, discussing the ‘unhealthy expectations placed upon women to achieve it all’.

Following several challenging weeks marked by health issues, a divorce, and managing a business concurrently, Fearne confessed: ‘I’m feeling an enormous amount of pressure.’

She mentioned: ‘Women often face significant expectations to demonstrate our abilities in running businesses, and I’m aiming to meet those expectations with Happy Place. However, let’s be truthful – the weight of these expectations can truly be overwhelming.’

‘I can imagine you [Caroline] are like me, there are lots of things I’d like to do, lots of goals.

I aspire to develop and broaden myself in various aspects, yet I don’t wish for this growth to lead to exhaustion and stress, causing me to neglect my family time or social engagements with friends, or missing out on fun.

‘There is still that toxic sort of trope that women can have it all, that people believe.’

Fearne has an eleven-year-old son named Rex, and an eight-year-old daughter called Honey, whom she shares with Jesse, who is 48 years old. Additionally, Fearne is a stepmother to Arthur, aged 21, and Lola, aged 18, who are Jesse’s children from his previous marriage.

In the statement revealing the split, Fearne told fans their priority was their children.

She shared on Instagram: ‘Sadly, Jesse and I are parting ways in our marriage. Regardless of the change, our focus remains unwaveringly on our cherished kids.’

‘We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.’
