Fearne Cotton admits she was left ‘incapable’ of reading Children in Need figures after a drunken night with Terry Wogan during their time on the show
Fearne Cotton shared that following an intoxicated evening with Terry Wogan, she found herself unable to announce the total raised during Children in Need.
The presenter, aged 43, co-hosted the program with a broadcasting legend who passed away, from 2005 to 2015. He shared stories about how they would keep the wine and Baileys readily available during the show.
Join me as I share my experiences working alongside the incredible Terry with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett OBE on Dish from Waitrose. Let’s delve into the fascinating tales of our collaborative journey together!
She started by expressing: “Wow, Sir Terry was a treasure trove of wisdom. What a treasure! I truly enjoyed working alongside him.
If we participated in an event like Children in Need that lasts for a long time, without fail, red wine was poured by around 10 PM. By midnight, it was inevitable that Baileys would be served as well. The Baileys…
In that spot, there would be a small, secluded nook with a draped partition. Inside, you’d find a tray holding Bailey’s and wine. And I said something along the lines of, “Alright, it’s time to cook.

Fearne went on to say: “By the close, when you’re adding up all the figures and have to announce a number that is incredibly lengthy, it becomes beyond your abilities.
‘I can’t figure out how to read that number. It seems to be around 32 million, but then it mentions 460,000 and one pound. That doesn’t make sense at all. I think there might be a decimal point missing somewhere because the final part is four pence.’
In January 2016, at the age of 77, longtime broadcaster Terry sadly passed away, following a hidden battle with cancer.
Ever since Sir Terry mysteriously vanished from our airwaves back in 2015, I, a devoted fan, had been holding on to the hope that he would make a swift comeback on the radio. Little did I know, his illness was so deeply guarded that even executives and colleagues at the BBC were under the impression that he’d be back within mere weeks. Oh, the agony of waiting!
Instead of revealing the diagnosis, he told friends he had a back problem.
Following the release of Fearne’s latest interview, it has been noted that her estranged spouse, Jesse Wood, appears to be deepening his bond with Gemma Gregory in a developing relationship.
48-year-old musician recently made their relationship with the ex-star of Made in Chelsea, aged 39, public, and it appears their bond is growing stronger each day.

In December, Fearne made a surprising announcement that she had separated from Jesse after a decade of marriage. She emphasized that the well-being of their children was their top concern.
Over the past week, I’ve been sharing some heartwarming moments on Instagram with my partner, Jesse. We’ve been seen enjoying our time together, laughing and snuggling during our fun-filled outings.
In a recent post, the actress and ex-model from London wrote: ‘Magic happens at the rhythm of love’, accompanied by a star and heart symbol.
According to sources, the relationship seems to be advancing rapidly, suggesting that it might be something deeper than just a brief rebound after Jesse’s unexpected divorce from television host Fearne in December last year.
It appears their relationship is growing stronger. Jesse and Gemma have been spending an increasing amount of time with each other, and it’s evident that things are going smoothly between them.
He’s had some tough emotional times, yet Gemma has significantly brightened his day. They share a strong connection and many similarities – she consistently brings out his laughter, and he finds comfort in her presence. It’s clear that their relationship goes beyond a casual flirtation.

The event occurred merely weeks following the release of pictures showing Fearne sharing a kiss with her latest beau, TV director Elliot Hegarty.
For the initial time this year, Fearne opened up about her separation from Jesse on the Lorraine show, describing it as ‘very cordial’ and expressing that their kids, 11-year-old Rex and 8-year-old Honey, are thriving well.
While Jesse hasn’t said much in public, his stepmother, Jo Wood (former wife of his father Ronnie Wood), has discussed the separation instead.
Initially, I was taken aback. To be honest, I hadn’t anticipated Fearne having a new partner. Moreover, Jesse was deeply saddened by this, as shared with the Mail earlier in the year.
Occasionally in life, one must experience such events… I’m confident that Jesse will find joy. Such events tend to resolve themselves. Their chapter had come to an end – it was time for them to progress.
Additionally, she mentioned her eagerness to interact with Gemma, characterizing their connection as ‘very fresh’ at that point.
Gemma, mother to Benji from a past relationship, is well-versed in the limelight. In 1999, she portrayed the youthful Estella in the film version of Great Expectations, and made brief appearances elsewhere as well.
Made in Chelsea in 2012 thanks to her long-time friendship with Hugo Taylor.
Besides, she has had romantic associations with aristocrat Nicholas Knatchbull, who is the godson of Prince Charles, and English polo player Henry Brett. It’s worth noting that these relationships are significant in her life.
