F*ck The Penguin
Actor Colin Farrell, who recently won a Golden Globe for his role as The Penguin in an HBO series spin-off from ‘The Batman’, had a conversation with veteran actor Danny DeVito. Interestingly, the shared villainous role of The Penguin in DC comics wasn’t what Farrell wanted to discuss during their chat. In addition to Farrell, Danny DeVito has also portrayed the iconic character of The Penguin, having played him in Tim Burton’s ‘Batman Returns’. Both actors have made significant contributions to the industry spanning over five decades each.
As a movie enthusiast, I recently enjoyed watching Colin Farrell and Danny DeVito on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series. Instead of delving deeper into our shared role, Colin playfully said, “Forget the Penguin, let’s talk about Sunny!” referring to Danny’s long-lasting role in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” the much-loved FX sitcom. Curiously, I asked Danny about his journey joining the show and his time spent on it throughout its sixteen seasons.
What Colin Farrell & Danny DeVito’s Discussion Means
Danny DeVito’s Role On It’s Always Sunny Is Legendary
Earning respect as a comedic actor can be tough, but Danny DeVito has managed to achieve nearly every feat an actor can aspire to. He’s won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his memorable role on the TV series ‘Taxi’, appeared in movies such as ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ and Disney’s ‘Hercules’, and, towards the end of his career, stars in the longest-running sitcom ever. Colin Farrell is keen to hear about ‘Sunny’ because he admires DeVito and is curious about his experiences.
In the first season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, it was a promising start, but the TV show truly took off when Danny DeVito joined the cast in season 2. His comedic prowess and industry reputation filled out the ensemble perfectly, earning him a place among the most adored actors of his time. Known for its outrageous humor, “It’s Always Sunny” is often hailed as one of the wildest shows on television, with the cast consistently challenging boundaries and subjecting their characters to unparalleled mockery in extraordinary ways. It’s no surprise that Farrell is intrigued by this show’s antics.
Our Take On Colin Farrell & Danny DeVito’s Conversation
Colin Farrell Needs An It’s Always Sunny Episode ASAP
Colin Farrell, like several other prominent film actors, has been increasingly dabbling in television roles in recent times, with projects such as “The Penguin” and “Sugar”. Although he’s not typically associated with comedic roles, he’s demonstrated versatility in films such as “Horrible Bosses”, which featured Charlie Day from “It’s Always Sunny”. I personally admire Farrell immensely among current actors, and I believe he has the potential to deliver a standout guest appearance that could rival performances by stars like Jason Sudeikis and Sean William Scott.
