Mike Weiss, the producer and showrunner, says the big cliffhanger from Season 7 will be wrapped up quickly. He also revealed that a beloved character from the show will be making a comeback, much to the delight of fans.
In an interview with TV Line, showrunner Frank Weiss revealed that Season 8 begins just three days after the dramatic Season 7 finale. He hinted that viewers may be kept guessing for a while about whether Alana De La Garza’s character, Special Agent Isobel Castille, made it through the ordeal. Weiss explained that the writers wanted to realistically portray the serious consequences of her injuries and the danger faced by the New York Field Office, describing the events as something of a takeover attempt that they managed to overcome.
Weiss also mentioned that several characters will take on bigger roles now that Isobel is gone, including Special Agent Nina Chase, played by Shantel VanSanten. They plan to continue exploring the romantic connection between Nina and Special Agent Scola, even with *Most Wanted* cancelled. While they hope to feature Nina in multiple storylines, scheduling Shantel VanSanten, who is a very busy actress, is proving to be a challenge.
FBI, created by Dick Wolf and Craig Turk, first aired on CBS in 2018 and quickly became popular with viewers who enjoy fast-paced crime dramas. The show stars Misy Peregrym as Special Agent Maggie Bell, Zeeko Zaki as Special Agent Omar Adom Zidan, Jeremy Sisto as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, and Alana de la Garza as Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille.
Since it first aired, *FBI* has grown into a larger universe with shows like *FBI: International* and *FBI: Most Wanted*, and a new series about the *CIA* is on the way. The show also featured Special Agent Nina Chase, played by VanSanten, who later became a main character in the final seasons of *FBI: Most Wanted*. Even though CBS recently canceled both *FBI: Most Wanted* and *FBI*, it’s unlikely the franchise will be without spin-offs for very long.
The FBI Universe is Set To Expand on CBS
The upcoming series *CIA* is generating excitement, starring Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss as a CIA agent named Hart Hoston and an FBI agent whose name hasn’t been released yet. The two are forced to work together, much to their annoyance. According to reports, *CIA* is a one-hour crime drama that follows these unlikely partners: Ellis plays a rebellious, unconventional CIA officer, while Gehlfuss portrays a strict, experienced FBI agent who always follows the rules.
The unlikely pair are stationed at the CIA’s New York office, where they’ll have to team up to solve cases and stop threats to the U.S. They soon discover that their contrasting personalities might actually be what makes them effective.
