Summary

  • Faye Toogood’s “Lucid Dream” furniture collection is on view until June at The Future Perfect and TIWA Select’s New York galleries.
  • The collection includes Toogood’s hand-painted furniture pieces, rooted in an experimental process of intuitive artmaking.

Prior to the commencement of the NYCxDesign festival, British designer Faye Toogood has recently revealed her newest collection named “Lucid Dream” at two forward-thinking galleries in New York City. Until June 21st, attendees can personally experience this collection at The Future Perfect’s West Village townhouse and TIWA Select’s Tribeca studio, providing an insight into Toogood’s innovative methodology.

Every piece of furniture crafted by Toogood is meticulously handmade by skilled fabricators and artisans, then adorned with Toogood’s artwork at her studio in London. This artistic expression uses collections like the Roly Poly Dining Table set and the Gummy line as a base, enriching them with thoughtful painted motifs.

David Alhadeff from Future Perfect likened “Lucid Dream” to the sensation of stepping into an atmospheric evening with Faye. This sculptural furniture collection exudes a surge of creative energy and vivid colors, evident in the casual brushstrokes and forms seen on display within The Future Perfect’s living area.

At TIWA gallery, Toogood’s designs in the exhibition “Lucid Dream” reflect nocturnal influences, featuring folded lighting constructed from Japanese paper and adorned with the designer’s freehand linear paintings. As for the collection, TIWA founder Alex Tieghi-Walker expressed that “Lucid Dream” encapsulates the strength of unique, handcrafted design. He went on to say, “Faye is one of the rare designers capable of producing a cohesive body of work that spans two galleries with groundbreaking perspectives on contemporary design and craftsmanship.
