Brittney Marie Jones’ father, who dated Brandon Blackstock (Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband) before Blackstock’s passing, asserts that they considered each other as ‘kindred spirits’ or deeply connected souls.
Blackstock died from the skin cancer melanoma at age 48 nearly one week ago.
Jones’ dad broke his silence on the matter in a Facebook post that has since been made private.
Yesterday, we tragically lost Brandon Blackstock, who I viewed as more than just family – he was like a son to me and my daughter’s beloved partner. This sentiment was expressed in a heartfelt message he posted yesterday, although the post is now private.
Deepest sympathies to Brittney Jones and her family, whose wit and humor will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, dear friend.
According to an online obituary published on Tuesday, it was disclosed that Blackstock had been secretly living with Jones in Montana, a fact not widely known by many of his fans, as they were in a relationship.

Brandon, together with Brittney Marie Jones, his partner both personally and professionally, embarked on a journey of creating a life, founding companies, and dedicating endless effort to establishing Headwaters Livestock Auction. Their hard work also led to the creation of The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana, which will serve as Brandon’s lasting legacy.
In an unexpected disclosure, a December 2024 report about the rodeo business of Blackstock and Jones revealed that Jones was previously an assistant to Clarkson.
Previous information on Jones’ LinkedIn profile, mentioned in the report, shows that she held roles as both Brandon Blackstock’s executive assistant and Kelly Clarkson’s assistant during the time when Blackstock oversaw the singer’s management.
The profile stated, as reported by The Sun, that I effectively handled the daily affairs of artist Kelly Clarkson, who was overseen by manager Brandon Blackstock, in Los Angeles, specifically for music and television industries.
Following a shift in management for Ms. Clarkson, I moved into the role of Executive Assistant for Mr. Blackstock’s Montana-based cattle operation. In this position, I now oversee the office and manage administrative tasks.
‘I also currently fulfill personal assistant duties for Mr. Blackstock.’
On LinkedIn, Jones is listed as the Executive Assistant for V Bar V Cattle Co. LLC, a business previously known as Vintage Valley Ranch, which adds another link between her and Blackstock’s life following their divorce in Montana.
On Thursday, August 7th, a family spokesperson announced with heavy heart that Brandon Blackstock has tragically passed away, as expressed in their statement.
For over three years, Brandon valiantly fought against cancer. In the end, he left us peacefully with his loved ones nearby.

On Wednesday, August 6th, Clarkson disclosed that a health concern regarding Blackstock necessitated the delay of her Las Vegas residency.
She informed us that she regrettably must move the remaining August Studio Sessions scheduled in Las Vegas to a later time.
Due to some personal circumstances, my children’s father has been unwell lately, which means I have to focus all my attention on them right now, so I might not be as available as usual regarding non-family matters.
She expressed her heartfelt apologies to everyone who purchased tickets for the shows, and she greatly values your patience, kindness, and understanding.
In simpler terms, the former couple, whose separation occurred in 2020 and divorce was finalized in 2022, have a shared custody of their daughter River, aged 11, and son Remy, who is 9 years old.
Alongside Kelly and his children, the late talent manager is also survived by his 23-year-old pregnant daughter, Savannah, and his son, Seth, from his former wife, Melissa Ashworth.
