Fat Tony is joined by showbiz pals Boy George, Davina McCall and Claire Sweeney as he celebrates his 60th birthday with a star-studded party

Fat Tony turned sixty on Tuesday and celebrated with a party attended by many of his friends in the entertainment industry.

DJ Tony Marnach, known for his popular sets, was recently spotted enjoying a drink at the stylish Soho Mews House in London with his husband, Stavros Agapiou.

The party kicked off with a star-studded guest list, including singer Boy George, TV personality Davina McCall, and Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney, who is a close friend of Tony.

Tony was celebrated with a special 60th birthday cake and encouraged to make a wish. The party at Lancashire Court included guests like EastEnders actress Jessie Wallace and drag queen Jodie Harsh.

After leaving Soho House, the DJ carried a big bouquet of flowers as he headed home to north London, where he lives with Stavros.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe it! They actually got married! It was in London, at this gorgeous little place called Welsh Chapel back in May. And get this – George from Culture Club was Tony’s best man! Can you even?! There were so many celebrities there, including Sweeney – I was practically screaming! It was the most perfect, magical day, and I’m still obsessed.

The DJ revealed in 2023 that he specifically selected the church because of its historic support for the LGBTQ+ community during the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 90s.

He explained that the church was a vital source of support and kindness for the local community. He wants to get married there because it would feel like a meaningful completion of a journey for him.

‘It’s for everybody that didn’t make it to that point.’

According to a source speaking to The Sun, Tony’s upcoming wedding is expected to be a star-studded event, as he’s a well-liked figure among London celebrities.

Nobody predicted Kate, Gemma, and Claire would all be in the wedding party this year, but it’s going to be amazing to see them together!

Tony and Stavros have carefully planned their wedding, and it promises to be a truly special occasion.

Tony, a veteran of the industry with over 30 years of experience, recently shared with TopMob that he still battles feelings of imposter syndrome. This comes after overcoming a serious addiction to drugs and alcohol more than 16 years ago.

He shared that rediscovering music after getting sober has been the greatest gift he’s ever received. He doesn’t just listen to music – he truly feels it, and considers it a more powerful and positive experience than any drug.

‘When you feel music it can take you to places no substance can ever take you, music is enough.’  

He added: ‘Alcohol and drugs aren’t the problem, I’m the problem.

Honestly, being near that whole scene doesn’t bother me anymore – I just actively avoid it. And when people ask if I miss it, I honestly have to wonder what they’re thinking! It’s a definite ‘no’ from me.

‘My life is so incredible because of the things I don’t do. 

‘If I started doing those things again my life would be over, my career would be over.’

Tony suddenly realized he needed to change his life and immediately stopped using drugs. He then spent six months in a rehabilitation program to overcome his addiction.

He explained that the first three months were incredibly difficult, as he knew he had no room for error. He’d already hit rock bottom with alcohol and drugs and saw this as his last chance.

I was at a very low point, weighing only seven stone and having lost all my teeth. I felt completely hopeless, but then something shifted one night. The love and support of one person unexpectedly gave me a reason to live and turned things around.

After making that decision, I committed to six months of rehab followed by a move to London. It was a huge step for me, because I knew I wouldn’t return to my old life.
