Fat Joe accused of coercion, intimidation, sex with minors in ex-hype man’s lawsuit
Terrence “T.A.” Dixon, who was previously a promoter for rapper Fat Joe, has filed a lawsuit against his former employer seeking $20 million. Some of the accusations he’s made could fit comfortably in the context of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ RICO and sex-trafficking trial.
A federal lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday and examined by The Times, asserts that the rapper has been accused of underpaying Dixon, denying him earnings from album tracks he contributed to, deceiving authorities about his income, abandoning Dixon without funds or means of transportation in foreign countries, and operating a criminal enterprise centered around intimidation and violence.

Actor involved with ‘The Oval’ series has filed a lawsuit against Tyler Perry, allegations which Perry’s lawyer deems as “invented.
The legal claim asserts that Fat Joe coerced his hypeman, effectively an enthusiastic performer who energizes the crowd, into participating in around 4,000 sexual acts involving women, often in the presence of himself and his associates.
54-year-old rapper Joseph Antonio Cartagena, known as Fat Joe, faces accusations of engaging in sexual relationships with two teenage girls aged 15 and 16. These allegations date back to when the rapper was in his late thirties, according to the court documents. The lyrics of his song “She’s My Mama,” which contain explicit sexual content, are said to be based on real-life events involving Fat Joe and one of the girls, as stated in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit claims that for approximately 16 years, Dixon’s responsibilities were not just limited to being a hype man like most people might think. Instead, he often took on roles such as co-writing lyrics, arranging hooks, recording backup vocals, performing in over 200 live shows as Fat Joe’s main stage partner, and handling travel logistics, which included transporting equipment, ensuring security, and organizing emergency plans. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Dixon also served as Fat Joe’s bodyguard and personal assistant during tours.
The filing indicates that Dixon is credited with writing or co-writing songs such as “Congratulations,” “Money Over Bitches,” “Ice Cream,” “Cupcake,” “Blackout,” “Dirty Diana,” “Porn Star,” “Okay Okay,” “No Problems,” a remixed version of “All the Way Up,” “300 Brolic,” “All I Do Is Win (Remix verse),” “Red Café (Remix),” “Winding on Me,” “Cocababy,” and “Get It for Life.

Music
Smokey Robinson’s lawyer refers to the accusations in a sexual assault lawsuit as ‘disgusting’ and ‘untrue.’ They plan to petition the court to throw out the charges against the Motown legend.
The lawsuit claims that Dixon was not fairly compensated for his work, despite being promised ownership shares and songwriting credits on commercially released songs by Fat Joe. However, according to Dixon, who parted ways with Fat Joe’s team in 2020, he couldn’t gather evidence of misconduct until an individual known as “Accountant Doe” disclosed relevant information last year, the lawsuit states.
As a passionate film buff recounting my experiences, I’d put it this way: “I, single-handedly managed every aspect of contracts, budgets, tour arrangements, licensing agreements, and credit allocations. Interestingly, I deliberately left out the contributions of a particular individual from the credits, registration forms for publishing, and royalty structures, even though their efforts were instrumental to the creative and commercial triumph of these projects.
Joe Tacopina, representing Fat Joe, described the ongoing lawsuit as a “provocative retaliation” and stated that the accusations made against his client are baseless fabrications, according to Variety. This response comes in light of the slander lawsuit filed by the rapper against Dixon following allegations made on social media, where Dixon claimed Fat Joe had illegally transported a 16-year-old across state lines for immoral purposes back in April.
As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing an update: Tyrone Blackburn, who represents Dixon, is likewise my legal champion for producer Lil Rod (Rodney Jones). Last year, Lil Rod filed a $30-million federal lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs and others in his circle, accusing them of sexual harassment and assault. However, as I learned recently, a judge dismissed most of the allegations against Diddy in late March.

World & Nation
At the zenith of his empire, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment stood as a dominant force in the entertainment industry, blending music, videos, fashion, alcohol, and aesthetics into a business that catapulted Combs to billionaire status. However, was it truly a criminal organization?
In both cases, there are warnings labeled as triggers, written in bold red font, preceding the accusations. This is a less common feature in similar legal documents.
As a cinema enthusiast, I’d rephrase that statement as follows: “In my view, Fat Joe is essentially Sean Combs without the infamous pink cocaine. However, what concerns me is that, despite his 2013 federal conviction for failing to file tax returns for multiple years on income exceeding $3.3 million, it seems he hasn’t learned from his past mistakes.
Beyond Fat Joe, other defendants named in the recent lawsuit are Peter “Pistol Pete” Torres, Richard “Rich Player” Jospitre, Erica Juliana Moreira, and several companies linked to the rapper, such as Roc Nation. Dixon has requested a trial by jury.
