Fantastic Four star Ioan Gruffudd’s bitter war with ex-wife Alice Evans takes bizarre twist as she accuses him of ‘fraternizing’ with lawyer who calls her ‘Malice’
As a seasoned observer of celebrity lives, I find myself intrigued by the ongoing saga between Alice Evans and Ioan Gruffudd. Having followed their journey since their days in 102 Dalmatians, it’s disheartening to see them embroiled in such a public and acrimonious divorce battle.
The ongoing dispute between actor Ioan Gruffudd, famous for his role in Fantastic Four, and his former spouse Alice Evans has taken an unusual turn. Evans alleges that he was engaging in friendly interactions with a female attorney during a court hearing in Los Angeles.
The incident occurred on September 9 when Evans, aged 56, was briefly excluded from the courtroom due to her snapping photographs within it, seemingly of Gruffudd, which violates court regulations and potentially risked a charge for contempt.
However, according to the latest court papers discovered by DailyMail.com, Evans maintains that she was not aiming shots at her 50-year-old ex, but rather, capturing photographs of a female attorney named Andrea Burkhart in the courtroom.
Evans alleges that Burkhart has been interacting with Gruffudd, made disparaging remarks about him, and refers to him as “Malice” rather than “Alice” on Twitter.
She spun around and noticed Burkhart and Gruffudd chatting amicably, their faces filled with smiles and laughter, she remarked. However, this situation troubled her immensely as it seems that Gruffudd is aiding Ms. Burkhart in posting disrespectful comments about me on her social media platforms.
In my recent legal submission, I’ve added a picture of Burkhart taken outside the Los Angeles courthouse and cited multiple online posts by him, which express criticism towards me and endorse Gruffudd’s assertion that my claims about being financially struggling and unable to care for our two minor daughters, are inaccurate.
‘Alice just lies about her financial situation,’ Burkhart wrote in an August 2024 post.
In a post from July this year, she stated that Malice’s financial disclosures have been rather unclear or hard to understand.
It appears that Alice’s involvement in the chaotic situation between Gruffudd and Evans has been ongoing for some time now. In April 2023, she shared that Alice had allegedly perpetrated domestic abuse.
Even though it’s not clear how her connection is with the celebrity split, aside from a YouTube video where she states that she provides commentary and analysis on notable cases using her almost two decades of experience as a defense lawyer, it remains unclear.
In my latest statement, I unequivocally refute the allegations made by Gruffudd last week, claiming that I’ve breached a court restraining order and disrupted his tranquility through persistent, harassing, and abusive social media posts about him and his fiancée Bianca Wallace. However, this is far from the truth, as I am merely an ardent fan expressing my admiration for both parties in a passionate manner.
‘I have not violated any court orders,’ says Evans.
She acknowledges that she shared harsh messages about Gruffudd and Wallace in 2021 and 2022, as she was expressing strong emotions following the abrupt end of our marriage.
However, she explains away her social media posts from last week, which Gruffudd deemed ‘disparaging’, as just casual remarks about my personal life, the ongoing divorce proceedings, and legal court matters in general.
‘They were not intended to disturb Gruffudd’s peace.’
She remarks, ‘Gruffudd’s objections suggest to me that he aims to mute me and dislikes my sharing insights from my personal life experiences.’
‘Also, Gruffudd’s supporters often comment with rants and are rude to me on social media.’
In her recently filed documents, Evans challenges Gruffudd’s assertion that her petition for a protective order concerning her court-appointed deposition is merely an attempt to stall the ongoing case.
She expresses her readiness to participate in her deposition, clarifying that she isn’t trying to avoid it. Furthermore, she mentions requesting a protective order to guarantee that the deposition focuses solely on the outstanding matters in this case and doesn’t unnecessarily breach her privacy.
Judge Stinn is scheduled to rule at a hearing October 8 on Evans’s request for a protective order.
Last summer saw the legal separation of Gruffudd and Evans. However, they continue to vigorously contest matters regarding alimony, child custody, and financial provision for their daughters, Ella (age 15) and Elsie (age 11).
At the September 9th court session, Judge Josh Freeman Stinn approved a mutually agreed-upon contract. In this agreement, Gruffudd will pay $3,000 per month as temporary child support and $1,500 per month as temporary spousal support. A more permanent arrangement for these payments will be determined at the hearing scheduled for February 13th.
Griffith intends to summon Wallace as a testifier during the February hearing, to verify that Evans repeatedly breached a three-year domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) taken out by Griffith in August 2022, after suffering a series of harmful text messages, emails, and social media posts from her. The DVRO was intended to prevent Evans from stalking, harassing, and abusing her, which he allegedly did persistently despite the order.
Gruffudd alleges that Evans consistently behaved in a manner that was harmful and disparaging towards him, with the intention of intimidating, harassing him, as well as his partner, Bianca Wallace. Furthermore, this behavior reportedly sought to estrange their two minor children from him.
In a recent turn of events, Gruffudd, whose latest film, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” has garnered over $403 million globally, is resisting Evans’ requests for additional pay. He argues that he’s already paid an excess of $400,000 in spousal support beyond what was required under their pre-marital contract.
Previously, he contested her statements about being impoverished, describing them as overly dramatic, and stated that the idea they and their children are in dire financial straits is fabricated or misleading.
