Fantastic Four Crosses a Box Office Milestone Many Believed Wasn’t Possible

Although The Fantastic Four: First Steps didn’t quite reach the financial heights of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s bigger blockbusters, it has recently surpassed an important milestone at the box office. Initially showing a considerable decline after its opening weekend, concerns about its theater run with mediocre earnings arose. However, it appears that Fantastic Four is still managing to bring in a reasonable amount of revenue at cinemas.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps goes past $500 million at box office

Based on Box Office Mojo’s recent reports, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has surpassed $500 million in worldwide revenue, reaching this milestone six weeks after its release in cinemas. Consequently, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six, this film currently boasts a commendable total gross of $506 million.

Approximately $265.8 million of the total worldwide earnings for the movie have been made domestically, while the remaining $240.5 million has come from international box offices. Excluding the US, the Fantastic Four’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has achieved its highest grosses in the UK ($31 million), Mexico ($28.2 million), France ($16.2 million), Brazil ($14.4 million), and Australia ($11.4 million). As reported by Deadline, the new Fantastic Four film is currently the highest-grossing superhero movie of 2025 in Italy, Thailand, and across Latin America.

The film’s current box office earnings have already made it the highest-grossing Marvel release this year, swiftly overtaking Captain America: Brave New World ($415 million) and Thunderbolts* ($382.4 million) in revenue.

*Thunderbolts is a hypothetical movie as of my last update.

Despite the Fantastic Four’s global box office figures appearing impressive at first glance, they significantly underperform the initial predictions made by analysts. This is particularly evident after the movie earned $218 million during its opening weekend, which was subsequently followed by a steep decline in earnings. At present, it ranks 27th among the highest-grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe titles, with minimal prospects of climbing more than two positions on the list.
