Fans react to Mariah Carey failing to hit her iconic high note during her Christmas concert

Fans of Mariah Carey had mixed reactions to her faltering high note during a recent performance.

Users on the comments section of a Christmas concert performance video posted by a 55-year-old singer on Instagram expressed their feelings of dissatisfaction.

They observed that she found it difficult to reach the distinctive ‘It’s Time’ high note, a signature moment from her traditional holiday season debut video, where she had previously shone.

The songwriter behind All I Want for Christmas Is You, who ignited romance speculation with musician Anderson .Paak (aged 38) following their hand-in-hand sighting in Aspen, Colorado, briefly displayed a displeased expression before quickly regaining her poise and moving on.

Meanwhile, since the video is circulating across social platforms like Instagram and TikTok, fans have started pointing out a small error and criticizing her for slightly missing the pitch of the note.

Each winter season, she brings back timeless tunes from her fourth studio album, “Merry Christmas,” that she launched in October 1994, and continues to perform them enthusiastically.

A slew of comments pointed out her high note or lack thereof. 

One Instagram user posted, ‘So, is that what she did? I’ve been replaying the video again and again, but I still can’t make it out.’

Another user commented: ‘Is the note in the room with us?’ 

‘That note kicking her a**,’ one Instagram commenter wrote alongside a laughing emoji. 

Some social media users defended the superstar and spoke highly of her performance skills.

One Instagram commenter said they ‘saw Mariah last Tuesday and she hit all her high notes.’

According to the fan, she sang a few of her well-known songs, making it an enjoyable experience. Without a doubt, it was worth watching.

I recently came across a post on Instagram, where someone speculated that the singer might have been battling a throat infection, yet persevered to give her performance.

‘It’s giving sore throat realness,’ the comment read. 

One fan pointed out that the singer looked ‘so disappointed with herself’ and left a crying emoji alongside their comment. 

However, there were additional comments, a little harsher than some of the others. One Instagram user wrote: ‘It’s time to put the mic down.’ 

Another wrote in agreement and commented: ‘Time to retire the vocals perhaps.’ 

Following their apparent romantic evening out, Carey was seen with Anderson .Paak, who is rumored to be her new boyfriend.

On Sunday evening, the duo, separated by 17 years, were spotted strolling hand-in-hand upon entering the Catch Steak restaurant in Aspen, Colorado.

At a certain moment, the artist behind “Leave The Door Open,” aged 38, seemed to keep the door ajar for her, while also tenderly encircling her midriff with his arm as they both stepped inside the restaurant together.

Despite their affectionate behavior potentially hinting at a romantic involvement, reports to TMZ assert that the pair are not in a relationship. In fact, these artists were spotted exiting the restaurant independently.

As reported by sources, Carey and the artist known as Brandon Paak Anderson (his full name) are working together on a fresh music endeavor at present. It appears that this duo has been frequenting a recording studio located in Aspen lately.

The two singers were reportedly enjoying a dinner break from all of their hard work at Catch. 

Lately, Anderson has been sharing glimpses with their social media audience of their upcoming joint music project.

Over the last Halloween, he connected with Carey and posted a picture where they both were in costumes. In his photo, he was dressed as a member of Daft Punk, celebrating the festive Halloween night together with Carey.

The Queen of Christmas was last in a longterm relationship with her backup dancer Bryan Tanaka. 

However, they went their separate ways last year. 

Mariah Carey has been married twice before: she was with Nick Cannon from 2008 until 2016, and her marriage to Tommy Mottola lasted from 1993 to 1998.

She and Cannon share 13-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. 

13 years ago, Anderson got married to Jae Lin. Recently, he filed for a divorce from her in January. They have two sons together named Soul and Shine.
