Netflix has shared a first look at its new comedy series, The Hawk, from Will Ferrell. Ferrell plays a former golf star who comes out of retirement after 20 years to try and win again.
According to TUDUM, Lonnie Hawkins, the top golfer in 2004, is finding it difficult to regain his former success as he nears the end of his career. While his physical health suggests it’s time to retire, he still feels driven to continue playing.
Everyone says Lonnie’s washed up – his ex-wife and even his son, Lance, who’s become a huge golf star! But I just can’t accept it. With only one major championship left to win, completing the Grand Slam, I believe he’s still capable of making the greatest comeback golf has ever seen. He’s one good shot away from proving everyone wrong!

The trailer features Lonnie, looking focused and wearing a bright pink golf shirt and a white visor that says “HAWK.” It shows him practicing his swing as he gets ready for what promises to be his biggest competition yet.
Get ready for the return of a true legend this summer! The voiceover proclaims him an icon, a champion, and an American hero – his name is Lonnie ‘The Hawk’ Hawkins.
What to Read Next
You know, watching Lonnie speak directly to us, he just points at himself and says, ‘That’s me! I’m the guy everyone’s been discussing. Just in case you were curious!’ It’s so direct and kind of funny, actually.
This summer, the new season will be available to stream. It features Lonnie battling it out with familiar foes like Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson), as well as new challenges from PGA TOUR board member Anton (Chris Parnell) and Radford (David Hornsby), who is now partners with Lonnie’s ex-wife.
Joining him on the trip are his son, Lance (played by Jimmy Tatro), Lance’s fiancée Natalie (Katelyn Tarver), and Stacy (Molly Shannon). They’re also accompanied by a new caddie named Sam (Fortune Feimster).
People on Twitter/X were thrilled to see Will Ferrell back in a comedy show and expressed their enthusiasm for the new series.

One fan declared Will Ferrell’s recent comedies, like ‘Ricky Bobby’ and ‘The Hawk’, to be his funniest work yet, predicting Netflix will deliver plenty of laughs with his new film.
One fan enthusiastically said they were excited for Will Ferrell’s upcoming movie, predicting it would be delightfully chaotic. Another simply stated that Ferrell returning to a sports comedy was enough to guarantee a hilarious film and immediately added it to their summer watchlist.
The Hawk will stream on Netflix this summer, with an official release date yet to be announced.
