Fans cringe at Gwyneth Paltrow’s embarrassing question about Timothée Chalamet’s love life with Kylie Jenner

Gwyneth Paltrow admitted she had no idea her “Marty Supreme” co-star, Timothée Chalamet, was dating Kylie Jenner.

Despite dating for over two years, the 53-year-old Oscar winner was surprised to learn about her partner’s connection with a popular young celebrity.

I was reading an interview with this actress in British Vogue, and she shared something that really resonated with me. She said people often tease her for not being knowledgeable, but she recounted a funny interaction she had. Apparently, someone was making fun of her, so she playfully asked if he had a girlfriend! He said he did, and then mentioned she had children. She was so genuinely happy for him, telling him it was ‘so cool’ and that she loved hearing that from someone his age. It was just a really sweet and relatable moment.

She clarified that while it’s understandable for a 45-year-old father to date another parent, she thought it was interesting he’d chosen to date a younger woman who also had children.

After realizing what had happened, Paltrow joked that she admired the gesture, calling it ‘kind of punk rock.’ However, she clarified that she hadn’t realized it was Kylie Jenner who had sent it.

People on social media were surprised that the mother of two, who is married to Brad Falchuk, reportedly wasn’t aware of Timothée Chalamet’s relationship with the 28-year-old makeup artist.

One person dismissed it, saying she was ‘living in a cave,’ while another playfully commented on X that Gwyneth apparently didn’t realize it was Kylie until much later.

Even though she doesn’t usually follow celebrity gossip, Gwyneth Paltrow, founder of Goop, playfully mentioned her friends’ surprise at the widely shared paparazzi photos of her and Timothée Chalamet kissing while filming.

She laughed and said the group chats with her mom friends were going crazy. Everyone was enthusiastically supporting her, and she had to ask them to take it easy.

In October 2024, fans were excited to see Gwyneth Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet filming their movie, Marty Supreme, together in New York City’s Central Park. He is 24 years younger than her.

At one point, they were seen kissing as he held her face and pushed her against a wall.

In the movie Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, a young man determined to become a professional table tennis player, and Gwyneth Paltrow portrays Kay Stone, an actress.

In March, Gwyneth Paltrow openly talked about filming a romantic scene with the celebrity her 21-year-old daughter, Apple Martin, has a crush on.

‘I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie. There’s a lot — a lot,’ she told Vanity Fair.

The actress also mentioned she wasn’t aware of the role of an intimacy coordinator, as she’d never worked with one on set before.

Gwyneth Paltrow explained that when asked about doing a physical scene, she told the intimacy coordinator, “I’m old-school – if things are going to happen, the cameras just roll.”

Eventually, she said she told the intimacy coordinator that they could ‘step a little bit back.’

I’ve been following her work for a while now, and what she said really resonated with me. She explained that while she can’t speak for new artists, if someone tried to micromanage her process – like telling her exactly where to place a hand in a piece – she’d feel incredibly restricted and unable to express herself. It’s about creative freedom, you know?

Sources say the actress decided to return to acting after a five-year break because her daughter, Apple, was a big fan of Timothée Chalamet.

According to a source who spoke to DailyMail.com, Gwyneth Paltrow agreed to appear alongside Timothée Chalamet in the movie *Marty Supreme* because her daughter is a longtime fan of the *Dune* actor.

Although Paltrow didn’t initially want to act again, she agreed to the project after her daughter, Apple, found out that Timothée Chalamet was not only starring in the film, but also producing it.

Once Gwyneth Paltrow explained to Apple that Timothée Chalamet was both producing and starring in the project, she urged her mother to give it a chance.

She really enjoyed the script and, although she wasn’t actively looking for a role, Apple convinced her to join the project, planning to be heavily involved during filming.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Gwyneth Paltrow called Timothée Chalamet a thoughtful and attractive figure, and described him as a very well-mannered and well-brought-up young man.

‘He’s a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner,’ she said.

Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, is set for release on December 25.
