Everyone is eagerly awaiting The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it’s easy to see why! The film will bring back familiar characters like Mario, Luigi, and Peach from the popular 2023 movie. Plus, we’ll be seeing some new faces, including Yoshi, who was hinted at before. Now that Yoshi has been officially revealed, fans are incredibly excited about the upcoming movie.
A Nintendo Direct presentation this weekend gave fans a new trailer for the upcoming Mario movie. While not the first trailer released, this one finally showed Yoshi! In the trailer, Mario and Luigi discover Yoshi – who has just hatched – while checking out a blocked pipe. They quickly become friends, even using their Fire Flowers to bond with the little green dinosaur. You can watch the trailer here!
Before the official reveal, a leaked image of Yoshi appeared on a cookie dough box. Still, it’s great to finally see the character in motion. The trailer also introduced Birdo, who will be teaming up with Peach. We also got brief looks at baby versions of Mario and Luigi. Beyond the impressive graphics, the trailer is also quite funny – the scene with Yoshi, Toad, and the candy apple was a highlight!

Lots of questions still remain about the new video game movie. For example, we don’t know who’s voicing Yoshi, and it’s unclear if the baby versions of Luigi and Mario are separate characters or just transformations of their adult selves. Despite these unknowns, the trailers and glimpses we’ve seen – with nods to other Nintendo games – have clearly excited fans.
The new film will feature Rosalina on the big screen for the first time, voiced by Brie Larson, who is a known fan of Nintendo. Joining them is Bowser Jr., played by Benny Safdie, and he’s on a mission to rescue his father after he’s been shrunk.
The upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie looks like it will be a wild and fun adventure, just like the games! Fans will also be excited to see Yoshi join Mario and friends. The movie hits theaters on April 1st. While you wait, you can watch the original Mario movie with a Prime Video subscription.
