Famous rock band faces crisis as star drummer forced to quit due to rare health condition

Due to a rare health issue, the drummer for Breaking Benjamin, Shaun Foist, has regrettably had to step down from their current tour.

The musician disclosed that he’s fought Hashimoto’s disease for close to ten years, and due to this health issue, he won’t be able to accompany the band during their upcoming U.S. tour in the fall.

Eight years back, he mentioned that he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. Over time, the symptoms have caused significant challenges when it comes to playing drums during tours, almost rendering it impracticable for him.

To recuperate and get ready for a potential resurgence in drumming, he stated that he won’t be playing with his bandmates for the time being, instead choosing to prioritize his health.

The first live performance on their tour by the band will feature a new member, James Cassells from Asking Alexandria, who has been announced as their substitute drummer and will perform with them in all upcoming shows.

As a devoted admirer, I must share my thoughts with you all! Last Friday, our beloved Foist graced the band’s official Instagram feed with an heartfelt message, addressed to his cherished friends, family, and most importantly, us fans. He revealed that due to the pressing need for some well-deserved rest, he had decided to step back from the tour.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Hashimoto’s disease refers to an autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, a crucial organ responsible for producing hormones that manage various bodily functions.

The disease arises when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, leading to a decrease in thyroid hormone production. This decline may trigger various symptoms such as tiredness, weak muscles, muscle discomfort, tenderness, stiffness, joint pain, and several other related issues.

He has been dealing with Hashimoto’s disease since 2017, experiencing fatigue, leg weakness, rigidity, fluctuations in weight, and difficulties controlling his drum playing due to various factors.

During their tour in the spring, he began encountering symptoms that made it challenging for him to drum effectively.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but feel the rhythm during the Awaken the Fallen Tour like it was my heartbeat. But let me tell you, I was hit with an unexpected storm – severe leg fatigue and issues that made drumming feel like trying to dance on quicksand. It was tough, man, almost impossible!

He mentioned that they conducted some tests on his back, which fortunately turned out well. However, these tests revealed that his Hashimoto’s disease had worsened, leading to an overactive thyroid state, resulting in weakness and weight loss.

After consulting with my loved ones and medical professionals, I have chosen to take a break from traveling for now so that I can dedicate myself to recovery.

After that, he urged their supporters to keep encouraging his fellow band members and emphasized that he wouldn’t abandon his passion for drumming.

“Keep on loving the band and attending those fantastic shows! Our history means a lot to me, and I’m determined not to let my health interfere with our performances. Thanks for all the love and support you’ve given us over the years. I can’t wait to get back behind the drums again.

In the caption, they expressed gratitude: ‘Thank you, @ShaunWFoist, for your many years with us in Breaking Benjamin. Our fall tour begins tomorrow, and we’re thrilled to have our buddy @cassells join us on stage.’

As a lifestyle aficionado, I too recently took to Instagram to express my heartfelt appreciation for sharing the stage with some exceptional rock stars. What an unforgettable experience it was!

He shared on Instagram that he’s still trying to fully comprehend it, but he’s extremely excited to reveal that he will be touring with Breaking Benjamin this autumn, looking ahead.

They have significantly influenced the person I have become as a musician, and the influence they wield within rock music is evident without needing further explanation.

As a proud participant, I am thrilled to be a part of this remarkable event. I eagerly anticipate taking the field and giving my best performance for each one of you. Here’s to an exciting journey ahead!

As a devoted follower, I can’t help but gush about the incredible lineup that our band boasts! At the helm is none other than the charismatic frontman, Benjamin Burnley. Alongside him, we have the immensely talented Keith Wallen on guitar. The rhythm is handled expertly by Aaron Bruch on bass, while Jasen Rauch adds his magical touch as our lead guitarist. Simply put, this team is unstoppable!

Over the weekend, the rock group initiated their joint headlining tour alongside Three Days Grace, first in Ridgedale, Missouri, followed by a performance at the Rocklahoma music festival in Oklahoma.

The band is set to carry on with concerts in numerous American cities, culminating in their fall tour finale on October 12 when they’ll go back to Oklahoma and perform their last show in Durant.
