Famous reality star reveals he’s desperate for a spot on Farmer Wants A Wife: ‘Help a bloke out’
As a dedicated follower of Australian reality TV, I have watched with admiration as David Graham, affectionately known as “Farmer Dave,” made headlines back in 2006 when he bravely came out on Big Brother Australia. His courageous act resonated with viewers and left an indelible mark on the show’s history.
He made headlines around the world when he came out on Big Brother Australia back in in 2006.
Now, David Graham, who is 44 years old, has shared that his desire is to appear on the popular Australian reality show, Farmer Wants A Wife, which airs on Seven Network, in order to find romance.
David, fondly called “Farmer Dave” by some, shared that it’s been over a year since he last had a partner, and now feels prepared to embark on the journey of finding new love.
At around mid-life, he expressed his determination to create a solid life plan and pursue it alongside a long-term companion.
In his note to manufacturers, David expressed his eagerness to participate in the program, despite its reputation for merely providing spouses.
As a farming enthusiast with a strong connection to the land, I find myself on the pursuit for a life partner. I understand that the title of this platform might lead one to assume it caters solely to supplying wives. However, we’ve come a long way since then. In the year 2024, I humbly ask for your assistance in helping me find a husband who shares my passion for agriculture and the simple pleasures of rural living.
As a lifestyle expert, I understand the excitement and anticipation surrounding the upcoming 2025 version of the reality show. Many fans, including myself, looked forward to seeing an LGBTQIA+ storyline represented in the series. However, upon learning that the eight eligible bachelors announced were all straight men, I felt a sense of disappointment. It’s important for media platforms to reflect and represent the diverse experiences and identities within our community. Let’s keep advocating for inclusive storytelling and representation in popular culture.
An insider from within the network shared that the decision to drop the diverse storyline was unintentional on the part of the producers.
According to a source who spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle, there had been intentions for Farmer Wants A Wife’s upcoming season to focus on diversity. However, these plans have unfortunately been abandoned due to an insufficient number of qualified applicants from the LGBTQ+ farming community and potential partners.
In rural regions, powerful networks exist, and we’re eager for their involvement in our enduring program. We haven’t given up on making this happen.
During the farm auditions this time, the selection process was quite involved, resulting in only a few candidates. However, the farmers made their choices based on personality fits rather than the number of options available to them.
In the year 2006, David made his debut on Australian television through the Big Brother show. It was there that he revealed his sexuality as gay to his fellow housemates for the first time.
He reprised the role in 2022 for the series reboot.
In January 2023, David revealed that he and his boyfriend Shazli, whom he had been seeing for under a year, were getting engaged.
At the time, he told Woman’s Day: ‘I thought I had hit the jackpot.’
