Falcons’ new CS2 lineup debut with a win versus ENCE but don’t convince
As expected, Falcons must iron out many aspects of their game throughout the CS2 season.
On January 15, at the BLAST Bounty Season 1 CS2 tournament, Falcons managed to win 2-0 against ENCE.
In CS2, we saw the first appearance of the new Falcons roster, comprising Nikola “NiKo” Kovač (previously from G2), Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski, Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, and René “TeSeS” Madsen (formerly of HEROIC).
Despite progressing to the next stage in BLAST Bounty Season 1 and retaining their $30,000 reward without losing a single map, Falcons’ performance left much to be desired.
Falcons 2-0 ENCE at BLAST Bounty Season 1: Recap
- Falcons 16-12 ENCE (Train)
- Falcons 16-14 ENCE (Dust 2)
I couldn’t believe it myself, but today, it was me, TeSeS, who led the pack in fragging for Falcons, not the usual suspect, NiKo. Don’t get me wrong, NiKo is a legend and Emil “Magisk” Reif is a veteran we all look up to, but today, I stepped up my game on Train and managed to outperform everyone else on my team.
On the initial map, Train, TeSeS racked up an impressive 33 eliminations, setting the stage for Falcons to ultimately secure a victory in overtime.
In the progression of the match, the action shifted to Dust 2, where the Falcons once more demonstrated tenacity. ENCE had opportunities to secure the map due to their impressive plays on the offensive side, but as time wore on in regular play, NiKo found his stride and racked up multiple kills round after round.
Without Niko’s intervention, the Falcons might have suffered a loss on Dust 2 in regular time. However, due to Teses’ impressive performances that included multiple kills, the team managed to win two consecutive overtime matches instead.
In their recent win over ENCE, the Falcons didn’t exactly show overwhelming confidence for future battles since ENCE is generally considered a lower-tier team these days. If the Falcons persist with their current approach in upcoming matches, they may face difficulties when competing against stronger CS:2 teams.
To secure their place at the live finals of BLAST Bounty Season 1 CS2, Falcons only have to win one more match remaining. Unlike the current online format, these finals will take place in a traditional LAN setting.
