Falcon Esports Coach Ar Sy’s Emotional Plea: ‘Please Bring Back MPL Myanmar’ post MLBB M6 World Championship Elimination

Story Highlights

  • Coach Ar Sy was emotional as the Falcon Esports had to bow out early from the M6.
  • He expressed his concerns for a lack of MPL Myanmar since 2020 and hopes the competition make its return one day.
  • With the growth of MLBB in the esports scene, Ar Sy expects more Burmese teams in big global tournaments

As a gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a deep connection to Coach Ar Sy and his emotional speech at the Mobile Legends M6 World Championship. His passion for the game, especially in Myanmar, is palpable and it’s heartbreaking to see the lack of MPL Myanmar since 2020.

Today at the ongoing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M6 World Championship 2024 in Malaysia, Falcon Esports’ coach Rodel “Ar Sy” B.Cruz delivered a touching speech. Moved by the dedication of his team, he passionately appealed to the authorities to re-establish the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) in Myanmar.

As a devoted fan, I’m sharing the disappointment of Falcon Esports today, having fallen to Team Spirit in their lower bracket quarterfinal with a 1-3 scoreline. Following the loss, our coach delivered a heartfelt speech, addressing the ongoing struggles in Myanmar and the missed opportunity to attend an official event due to unforeseen circumstances.

Myanmar has a big potential in MLBB esports, the coach said after Falcon Esports lost in the M6

At a recent press gathering, GamingonPhone posed some queries concerning the coach’s perspective on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports within Myanmar. Coach Ar Sy, deeply touched by the enthusiasm of players, spectators, and esports community members in the nation, expressed his hope that MOONTON would reconsider and restart the MPL (Mobile Legends Professional League) Myanmar, despite the ongoing civil strife in the country.

After expressing some insights about the national esports structure and potential growth of MLBB in various areas, we had an opportunity to ask some questions. Upon learning that he was actually Filipino, we asked for his impressions of the scene he witnessed. He responded, “It’s clear that Myanmar holds a great deal of promise. In particular, when it comes to M2, Myanmar has demonstrated that the Burmese server is challenging. ONIC PH puts up a good fight against us. All the players are incredibly passionate and their love for the game is evident.

Falcon Esports Coach Ar Sy’s Emotional Plea: ‘Please Bring Back MPL Myanmar’ post MLBB M6 World Championship Elimination

Continuing our conversation, we inquired about his perspective on why MPL Myanmar failed to return. He speculates that the government might be the reason. However, we were keen to delve deeper into this topic and even presented a hypothetical scenario to gauge his reaction if the game resurfaces next season. “This would be thrilling!”, he exclaimed, “There are numerous teams and players eagerly waiting for their chance in MPL. It’s not just about Burmese Ghouls or Falcon, there are many other teams as well!

Burmese teams will be more competitive in the next season, and will through strong challenges against others

Inquired about Ar Sy’s opinions regarding the present competitive climate in Myanmar, specifically concerning the upcoming season of the World Championship, the M7, for his squad. He chuckled and indicated that overcoming their opponents would undeniably prove challenging.

Later on, the coach discussed the significant contrast between the structured tournament setup, such as MPL Malaysia held twice a year, and the current M6 Qualifier. “I believe the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Esports community is growing rapidly,” he expressed. “The tournaments and rewards are becoming increasingly substantial.

We asked about the dependence or if there’s any because the absence of MPL Myanmar affects the esports ecosystem. He said some important things in answer. “I don’t know. Maybe it’s half the people feel like it’s unfair to not have an MPL. Again, some may think it doesn’t have much potential. So, I asked again and again to scout in more regions like North America, China, etc.”

Burmese teams are good against global leaders, but MPL Myanmar has been at a halt since 2020

The most recent MPL Myanmar event took place four years ago, specifically in 2016. After having been held five times before, the sixth one was unable to take place live. Myanmar boasts a rich history in the M series, as evidenced by its representative team, Burmese Ghouls, who finished second in the Mobile Legends M2 World Championship during the second edition of the tournament.

For a while now, Burmese teams have been delivering strong performances at the World Championship series. Both Falcons and Ghouls have managed to secure notable positions in the championship throughout the years. Beyond their runner-up title in M2, both teams have consistently placed among the top 6 contenders.

The esports world for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is largely controlled by Southeast Asian nations, with Indonesia and the Philippines leading the pack. Other countries struggle to keep pace, but Myanmar stands out as a notable exception. It’s essential that the game addresses these matters soon.
