ExtraEmily banned on Twitch after running a red light on stream

Emily temporarily restricted from Twitch platform, following some questionable activities during her latest IRL broadcast, which appeared to violate their rules.

Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang has temporarily been suspended from Twitch, due to an incident where she ran a red light while streaming live. It seems that the authorities at the streaming platform became aware of this and chose to impose a penalty as a cautionary measure.

Let’s take a look at all the details.

Why was ExtraEmily banned on Twitch?

I can’t help but notice that once again, ExtraEmily is making headlines this year. You might recall an incident where she was accused of using a racial slur during a live stream, but it seems like that’s all water under the bridge now. However, it appears she’s found herself in another sticky situation.

During this live stream from her vehicle, ExtraEmily accidentally ran a red light, with the camera focused on her. In an unusual move, she adjusted the camera to capture a first-person view of the car instead. Immediately following the traffic violation, she argued that such incidents are common in Austin, Texas due to the lights staying on too long.

Regardless of the justification, violating the law is still considered a violation. In this case, Twitch suspended ExtraEmily, which could be seen as a mild punishment. There are instances where less severe offenses have resulted in harsher penalties, but given the circumstances, this decision seems reasonable.

How long is the ban?

The ban took place around 1:34 in the morning on April 13, 2025 (Pacific Time). As reported by ExtraEmily through her Discord channel, she was temporarily banned from Twitch for a day or so. She referred to the situation as an “unfortunate incident,” but acknowledged that it was reasonable.
