Get ready, fans of *Slow Horses*! The popular spy series is coming back for a fifth season, and it promises to be full of action, according to one of the show’s actors.
The popular Apple TV+ show returns in just two days, taking viewers back to the world of Slough House and reuniting us with the team of misfit MI5 agents led by Jackson Lamb, played by Gary Oldman.
Nick Mohammed, known for his roles in *Taskmaster* and *Ted Lasso*, is joining the cast of *Slow Horses* for its fifth season. He’ll be playing Zahar Jaffrey, the mayor of London, alongside Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, and Hugo Weaving.

Mohammed was asked about the personality of the character he plays, and some people noted similarities to London Mayor Sadiq Khan. The actor acknowledged the comparisons were likely, but explained that his character is actually a blend of traits from various politicians.
He acknowledged that some people would likely compare this to the current London Mayor, but pointed out it was written some time ago.
It’s a bit depressing how relevant some of the story still feels today. But the character isn’t modeled after any one specific person; he’s more of a representation of a certain political viewpoint – generally leaning left – although he’s definitely not perfect.
Going into detail about his character, Mohammed said Jaffrey is “vain” and “grandstands a lot”.
He enjoys speaking and always looks for ways to benefit himself, often trying to gain a political edge, according to the speaker.
He’s a complex and engaging character, really a blend of many different political figures,” he explained, adding with a smile, “You can probably tell I’ve been given a lot of background information!”
Apple TV+ has renewed the spy thriller *Slow Horses* for a seventh season, before season five even premieres. This comes after the show was already greenlit for a sixth season.
The fifth season of Slow Horses begins streaming on Apple TV+ on September 24th. You can also watch seasons 1 through 4 on the same service.
