Expert reveals why Kyle Sandilands’ chauffeur sustained horrific injuries in car crash – and why driver of $1M Rolls-Royce walked away unscathed

A car specialist has shared their insights about the distressing accident that inflicted severe wounds upon Kyle Sandilands’ driver.

52-year-old George Plassaras got into an accident with a pricey Rolls-Royce worth approximately one million dollars, which occurred around 3:30 AM on a Saturday morning in the Rose Bay district of Sydney.

The collision resulted in severe injuries for Plassaras, who was operating a Mercedes-Benz van. He sustained multiple fractures including a shattered spine, cracked ribs, a ruptured spleen and diaphragm, an open abdomen, as well as two broken hips and femurs.

Or, more concisely:

The accident caused Plassaras, the Mercedes-Benz van driver, to suffer from a shattered spine, cracked ribs, a ruptured spleen and diaphragm, an open abdomen, as well as broken hips and femurs.

Simultaneously, LanLan Yang, who was reportedly driving the Rolls, managed to avoid injury after the accident.

Automotive expert Alborz Fallah, a co-founder of carexpert.com.au, shares his insights about the recent accident and explains why the driver of the Rolls-Royce avoided harm.

In a conversation with Daily Mail, he pointed out that although both vehicles were deemed safe, the significant difference in their sizes and weights significantly impacted the final result of the accident.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan sports a V12 engine upfront and boasts an extended hood. Remarkably, it’s over 300 kilograms heavier than the Mercedes-Benz van (specifically, a Vito model), as he pointed out.

As a diehard enthusiast, I can’t help but notice how the laws of physics truly rule the road. In a devastating head-on crash like the one we just saw, it’s clear that the mass and dimensions of these vehicles significantly influence the outcome – a harsh reminder of their role in such high-impact situations.

Fallah pointed out that the situation might have turned out more severe had the vehicles not been furnished with sophisticated safety features.

He mentioned that it was a lucky turn of events since both drivers walked away unscathed. A significant factor contributing to their survival, he noted, was the sophisticated safety features installed in both vehicles.

On a Saturday morning in Rose Bay, LanLan Yang collided her million-dollar Rolls-Royce Cullinan with a Mercedes van that was being operated by Plassaras.

According to NSW Police reports, they claim that a 23-year-old individual named Yang swerved onto the opposite lane of the road based on CCTV footage analysis, which showed the accident scene.

At the scene, Dakota Limousines’ operator, Plassaras, found himself ensnared within the debris as onlookers urgently dialed emergency services (triple zero).

Inside the damaged vehicle, his cries for assistance were audible as rescue teams from both NSW Police Rescue and Fire and Rescue NSW endeavored to extricate him.

According to police reports, Yang’s breath sample tested positive during a roadside check, leading to her immediate arrest on the spot.

At Waverley Police Station, she allegedly refused to undergo a breath analysis.

Yang faced charges for inflicting physical injury due to misbehavior while driving a car, as well as not complying or failing to undergo a breath test.

She was granted conditional bail and ordered to surrender her passport.

As per the stringent restrictions, I’m barred from operating a vehicle and am required to stay within the confines of my Waverley mansion each day from 8 in the evening until 6 in the morning.

Yang is scheduled to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on August 15.

As I share my story on the Kyle & Jackie O show today from the ICU, I want you all to know that my journey towards full recovery is a long one.

In simpler terms, Plassaras mentioned that he has completely lost his right hip during the conversation with Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

‘I’ve just been laying flat since Saturday, since the accident.’

Over the past ten years, Plassaras has shared that Sandilands requires hip surgery on his operating limb (the one used for driving), meaning he’ll be out of commission for a while.

He will also have to undergo a second operation on his knee.

The driver mentioned that they would need to perform the hip surgery first to determine the full severity of the injuries to his back, or put another way, the doctor’s assessment of his spinal injury will be done after the hip operation.

Plassaras explained that his hip is essentially non-existent now following the surgery. This means he’s unable to operate a vehicle legally for about six weeks.

Following my hip surgery, I need to address my right knee next. After that, they’ll examine an X-ray of my spine. This sequence starts with my hip procedure.

‘There’s a long list of injuries.’
