“Exhilarating” British drama that’s “impossible to resist” gets new UK streaming home

The award-winning 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire, directed by Danny Boyle (known for Trainspotting and 28 Years Later), is now available on a new streaming service in the UK.

The movie centers on Jamal, a young man from a difficult background who surprises everyone by succeeding on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

During police questioning about accusations of cheating, the investigation reveals that the answers are connected to significant moments – both good and bad – from his past.

Okay, so I was totally surprised to learn the guy who was on Skins, Dev Patel, is the lead in this movie! It was a really big role for him, his first huge international thing. And get this – Freida Pinto from Rise of the Planet of the Apes is in it too, along with Anil Kapoor who I remember from Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Pretty cool cast, honestly!

The film is currently available on BBC iPlayer, although only for the next 29 days.

When Slumdog Millionaire came out, it was a huge hit. It received top honors at the Oscars, winning both Best Picture and Best Director, and was also named Best Film at the BAFTAs, earning many other awards and nominations as well.
