Exclusive: Sinners break-out star Miles Caton learned guitar for his role in 100%-rated horror

The film titled “Sinners” will hit the silver screen this weekend, having received a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes following its initial critical evaluations.

It’s widely acknowledged, beyond the consensus that it’s an excellent film, that the movie Sinners serves as the remarkable first foray into directing by emerging talent Miles Caton, who is also a gifted singer.

In this role, Caton is cast as Sammie, the youthful relative of twins Smoke and Stack, portrayed by Michael B Jordan. However, prior to being entangled in the vampire chaos, he displays his exceptional singing talent in an impressive musical scene.

Although his singing skills are certainly impressive, what might truly astound you is the fact that prior to his work on “Sinners“, Caton had no experience playing the guitar at all.

As a gamer, let me say, his voice is unlike anything else; it stirs you to your core. I mean, music can make you feel things, but there’s something about the way he resonates that hits you deep within, right in the heart of your emotions. That’s what Wunmi Mosaku shared with Digital Spy.

Let me add, I find it noteworthy that he took up the guitar specifically for this role, even though he wasn’t a guitarist beforehand. His mastery of the instrument today suggests a deep-rooted musical talent; it seems as if he was destined to hold a guitar from birth.

He rarely mentions this, but every time we’re in an interview, I find myself encouraging him to talk about how he learned to play the guitar. Remarkably, he now incorporates it into his own music. He truly is an exceptional talent.

Consistent with his usual approach, Caton neglected to disclose to Digital Spy explicitly that he mastered playing the guitar especially for the band’s album, Sinners.

However, he did open up about the personal connection to the role.

Born into a musically gifted household, everyone in my family possesses the ability to either sing or play an instrument. For me, transitioning into acting while still maintaining a strong bond with music felt incredibly unique and heartwarming.

Later on, I had the opportunity to delve more into the Blues genre and discover various artists who emerged during that period. This experience significantly expanded my musical knowledge and passion.

Sinners is released in cinemas on 18 April.
