Based on real-life occurrences, the film “Smoke” delves into the lives of a cryptic fire inspector and a distressed police officer as they pursue two notorious arsonists, creating a thrilling chase.
In this series, Egerton takes on the role of arson inspector Dave Gudsen, while Jurnee Smollett portrays detective Michelle Calderone. They both star in the show’s ensemble cast.
Rafe Spall, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Anna Chlumsky, Adina Porter, Greg Kinnear, and John Leguizamo will also be part of this project.
Apple TV+ has unveiled a set of initial character portrayals, revealing the actors assuming their new characters in an upcoming, intense and grimy crime series.
In this production, the creator of the smoke-related content, Lehane, not only pens the script but also takes on the roles of writer and executive producer. Meanwhile, Egerton serves as an executive producer, with Richard Plepler representing EDEN Productions in this capacity as well.
According to the “Firebug” podcast on truth.media, which was led by Kary Antholis, the series directors are Kari Skogland, Joe Chappelle, and Jim McKay.
Currently, the Kingsman actor, Egerton, has shared insights on potentially reprising his role in the follow-up of his blockbuster Netflix thriller Carry-On.
As a die-hard fan, I’d jump at the chance to step back into the shoes of TSA agent Ethan Kopek, should a compelling narrative present itself on Today. Egerton hinted that he might be open to reprising the role, and honestly, I can’t wait!
He mentioned that the situation seems unique and special, which might call for a remarkably fresh, imaginative concept to seem fitting as a continuation. However, he also agreed that it could be worth exploring.
Smoke premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday 27 June.
