As a long-time friend and admirer of Jackmaster, I find myself deeply saddened by his untimely passing. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and countless fans who knew him not just as a brilliant DJ, but as a kind and humble soul who brightened every room he walked into.

Example expressed his sorrow following the unfortunate accidental death of his longtime friend, DJ Jackmaster, at the tender age of 38 due to a head injury.

In an emotional Instagram post, it was confirmed that Jack Revill, the well-known Scottish musician, tragically passed away on a Saturday morning in Ibiza, Spain.

Currently, the English artist known as Example, aged 42, has used social media platforms to post a heartfelt homage to his friend. He characterized this individual as exceptionally talented and grounded.

Sharing a poignant message along with his last photo taken with Jack in Glasgow earlier this year, the individual known as Skepta (whose birth name is Elliot John Gleave) expressed some deeply emotional sentiments.

The musician known for Kickstart hits residing in Brisbane, where he shares custody of his two children with his former wife Erin McNaught, openly expressed that he would deeply feel the absence of the gifted DJ and producer.

“I arrived from a 20-hour flight here on Sunday. It had been three weeks since I last saw my children, so I postponed dealing with this sad news for a while. Now, let me share it…

‘Practical, straightforward, and incredibly funny. Loyal, frank, passionate, and fashionably stylish to a fault. Exceptionally talented and capable of energizing any room, whether on the stage or off it. Our evenings together were unforgettable, Jacky Boy. You will be deeply missed.’

It brings me immense joy to have met up with you in Glasgow this year. I never anticipated that this photograph would be our final memory together.

‘All my love and support to your family and close friends. And when you reached out for help at times, I hope you knew you were also helping me too.’

He continued to commend Jack’s exceptional skills as a DJ, sharing that his friend frequently exposed him to fresh music through his diverse playlists.

He continued: ‘For those of you who never got to see Jack do his thing: Imagine … Simian Mobile Disco being mixed into Missy Elliott into Sister Sledge into Darude into Krystal Klear into Prodigy into Jackson 5 into Wookie into Roger Sanchez into Cassius into whatever else he wanted to … it was seamless and he made it look easy. 

Additionally, I’m mentioning musicians whose work you might recognize, many of his performances included pieces I hadn’t heard before, and it was a valuable learning experience for me.

Occasionally, I keep Shazam handy in my pocket throughout an entire event, ensuring I can identify songs and review them at a later time.

It consistently amazed me to witness esteemed DJs such as Skream, Doorly, Oneman, and Artwork display a perplexed reaction towards him, as if saying “What the Fetch!”.

Among the top 10 best DJ sets I’ve witnessed live, Jacky is likely to make up around three of those. Above all, what stands out is the unending joy and vitality that always accompanied him.
