The EWC Foundation has recently declared an upcoming global esports competition called the Esports Nations Cup. Here’s what we currently understand about it.
Players will be competing for their respective nations, much like how football teams do, in the recently unveiled Esports Nations Cup. The Esports World Cup Foundation is responsible for organizing this tournament, collaborating with prominent video game companies to jointly develop it.
Esports Nations Cup
August 23rd marked the unveiling of the Esports Nations Cup, an international tournament, by the EWC Foundation. This event sees participants competing for their respective home countries.
The first-ever Esports Nations Cup is being jointly created with prominent game publishers and developers such as Electronic Arts, Krafton, Tencent, and Ubisoft. These companies will participate in designing the national rankings, qualification paths, and tournament formats for their respective games, aiming to make it engaging for fans while maintaining top-tier competitive quality.
The competition will unite national squads from each significant continent, including North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Africa, Asia, Southeast Asia (SEA), and Oceania. Each region will participate in both team-oriented and individual modes of play.
The competition employs a balanced qualification system that promotes both competitiveness and inclusivity. It incorporates global rankings, regional tournaments, Wildcard entries including solidarity spots, to create a diverse and representative playing field for all games. Every participant will receive assured prize money, with equal payouts across different titles, ensuring fairness for every competitor.
The ENC facilitates the materialization of esports, offering each spectator a banner to unite under and every competitor the honor of representing their nation. It serves as a platform to cultivate heroes, motivate future generations, and, in collaboration with our associates and supporters, construct the national infrastructure that will foster global expansion of esports.

When will the tournament happen?
The bi-annual Esports Nations Cup is set to commence for the first time in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during November 2026. Following its debut, the event will move its hosting location, providing an opportunity for global fans to engage with national esports teams and various cultures around the world.
The ENC (event name) follows a structure similar to the Asian Games, which is a major multi-sport event occurring every four years for athletes across Asia. Although the specific games to be played in this tournament haven’t been revealed yet, potential contenders like Apex Legends, PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, and Honor of Kings are likely possibilities. We will keep you informed as we receive further details within the coming weeks.
