Ewan McGregor confirms Disney is exploring ideas for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2

As a seasoned Star Wars gamer with over three decades of fandom under my belt, the news about potential Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi has sent me into orbit! I remember the days when I’d watch the original trilogy on VHS and dream of being a Jedi like Obi-Wan. Now, here we are, with the prospect of more adventures featuring Ewan McGregor as our favorite green-robed hero!

Ewan McGregor shared an encouraging hint about the potential continuation of Obi-Wan Kenobi, stating that discussions regarding a second season are ongoing.

Yesterday, the actor participated in a panel at the Los Angeles Comic Convention, and it turns out that Hayden Christensen was there too. Besides them, stars from “The Mandalorian,” such as Ming-Na Wen, Giancarlo Esposito, and Emily Swallow, were also present.

McGregor expressed his strong interest in a second season of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and voiced his wish to collaborate with Hayden Christensen once more. After the series ended, its creator Deborah Chow clarified that it was intended as a limited series. However, much has changed since then, and aside from “The Mandalorian” Season 3, no other show has matched its viewership. The ending also suggested potential for another season, which could have a significantly different mood compared to the first.

In the potential second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s room for a more uplifting and optimistic narrative. Given that Obi-Wan has moved past his emotional turmoil following Anakin’s fall to the dark side, this new installment may delve into Obi-Wan’s isolated years on Tatooine. It seems probable that he won’t leave the planet again, but instead focus on rekindling connections, such as with his former Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, who appeared in the series finale. Additionally, a young Luke Skywalker could make appearances if Lucasfilm chooses to produce a Season 2.

Furthermore, since we’ve had limited insight into Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon’s relationship post “The Phantom Menace“, it would be thrilling to witness more wisdom exchanges between the two, particularly lessons on maintaining his consciousness upon joining the Force. McGregor expresses excitement about potentially wearing the Clone Wars armor for some live-action Clone Wars flashbacks alongside his buddy, Hayden Christensen. This prospect alone has fans eagerly anticipating a potential second season.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+.
