Everything you missed at the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at NYCC 2024
As a seasoned Star Wars enthusiast, who’s been following this galaxy far, far away since the days of my father’s old R2-D2 toy, I must say that the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at New York Comic Con never fails to impress! This year was no exception, especially with the focus on The High Republic.
Attending the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at New York Comic Con is always an exciting event, and this year was no exception, particularly for fans of The High Republic! Not only were new comic series announced, but we also got a title reveal for the upcoming novels known as The Acolyte, among other thrilling news. Let’s delve into all the fantastic tidbits from the panel that you might have missed!
The High Republic
During Phase III, the main attraction will be The High Republic, marking the conclusion of this multi-media project (for now). Through StarWars.com, various titles, cover arts, and concept sketches have been unveiled.
The showstopper was the reveal of fan favorite characters Avar Kriss, Bell Zettifar, Elzar Mann, Burryaga, and Azlin Rell in Jedi Temple Guard armor, which is in credibly awesome to see. You can see the full lineup on StarWars.com, where it says that they’re taking “the battle to the Nihil and the Nameless!”
As a gaming enthusiast, let me share my excitement about some upcoming Phase III books I’ve come across! “A Valiant Vow” is a gripping middle-grade novel written by Justina Ireland that introduces us to the characters Imri Cantaros and Tep Tep. On the other hand, “Into the Light,” penned by Claudia Gray, promises an action-packed adventure starring Reath Silas as he navigates his journey as a Jedi Knight, facing perils along the way.
In a recent development, the enigmatic character Lourna Dee acquired two new appearances. One was a sneak peek at the cover of issue #2 from the comic series The High Republic. The other involved a risky encounter with Marchion Ro in the upcoming audio drama titled Tempest Breaker.
Taking over the Star Wars Insider short stories is Lydia Kang! Her first story will feature the kick-butt husband and wife duo of Joss and Pikka Arden (who are expecting a child!). There was also a first look at upcoming comic panels from The High Republic Adventures, which you can see on StarWars.com.
New Star Wars Comic Series Announced!
I’m thrilled to bits as Marc Guggenheim dropped a tantalizing piece of news! It’s about a comic book series set before “The Phantom Menace” titled: Star Wars: Jedi Knights! Each issue promises to delve into a unique character, like Yoda, Mace Windu, Qui-Gon Jinn, and many others. A sneak peek of the cover artwork from Sawyer on Yap Sesh Podcast reveals other beloved Jedi characters such as Kit Fisto, Yaddle, and the increasingly popular Ki-Adi-Mundi.
The Acolyte‘s Title Reveal
Earlier this year, it was revealed that “The Acolyte” series would be expanding with two novels. One of these books, titled “The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown“, is penned by Tessa Gratton and focuses on the reunion of characters Yord Fandar and Jecki Lon.
