Everything we know about Shyvana’s visual and gameplay rework

Shyvana is getting a visual update soon, and we’ve gotten a first look at her new design along with details on when it’s coming out.

In 2026, the first season will center around Demacia and include a much-anticipated update to the champion Shyvana, arriving later in the season. Riot Games has hinted at her redesign in recent videos, and players are eagerly awaiting its release.

Shyvana’s concept art

So, Riot was originally planning to update Shyvana in 2025, but it’s been pushed back. I’ve seen the concept art, and wow, they’re really leaning into her dragon form! She looks way more dragon than human now, which is a huge difference from the old 2011 model. Apparently, from what’s been leaked, her hair is going to be a reddish-orange color, and she’ll be wearing some Petricite armor on her chest and right arm. It’s gonna be a pretty massive visual overhaul!

Shyvana’s rework first look

Recently, a well-known League of Legends leaker, BigBadBear, posted some images of the updated Shyvana. The in-game look seems to match the early concept art. However, it’s important to remember that things can still change before the update is released, and leaks aren’t always completely accurate.

Connection to Demacia

Shyvana has a unique story: she’s a magical being who usually looks human, but can transform into a powerful dragon when she needs to battle. After saving Prince Jarvan IV, she became his personal guard, despite many people distrusting her. Though she’s half dragon, Shyvana understands and feels human emotions because she was raised among people.

It’s a smart move to release Shyvana’s updated design alongside the Demacia season. While originally from a different land, Shyvana deeply identifies with Demacia and is fiercely loyal to its Prince, even willing to sacrifice everything for him. We now know for sure her rework will launch with the Demacia season in early 2026, though players won’t see her new look immediately.

Riot Meddler confirms Shyvana’s rework in 2026

Earlier this month, Riot Meddler announced that Shyvana’s visual and gameplay update (VGU) will release sometime during the Demacia season, but not with the very first update of the season. He explained that they’re sharing this information gradually to reassure players that the update is definitely planned for that timeframe.

Shyvana’s update probably won’t be released with the next game patch, but we anticipate it will arrive between February and May of 2026. We’ll let you know as soon as Riot Games reveals more details about the changes to her appearance and how she plays.
