Last week, Drake released a highly anticipated album that everyone was talking about. Now, just a week later, the focus shifts to up-and-coming artist fakemink, who is releasing his new album, ‘Terrified.’ This is fakemink’s first full-length project since gaining popularity in the US and changing his stage name. ‘Terrified’ has the potential to make fakemink a household name and bring more attention to the underground hip hop scene.
Fakemink’s upcoming album has the potential to be a major force in rap, rivaling the impact of Drake’s ‘ICEMAN’. However, while Drake focused on large-scale promotion, fakemink has taken a very different approach, returning to his roots in Essex. He’s opting for a low-key release with atmospheric, artistic visuals and small, personal shows – prioritizing genuine connection over massive festivals. This understated rollout perfectly matches his famously private and mysterious public image.
We reviewed everything available about Terrified to gather details about their upcoming album, fakemink.
The Tracklist – Revealed and then Removed

This morning, fakemink discussed the project in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music. Almost immediately after the interview went live, Apple Music briefly showed the full album tracklist – including song titles and durations – on its pre-save link. Though the tracklist was quickly removed, Reddit users managed to capture screenshots. The album will feature 19 songs, including tracks like “Playlist .”, “Fire & Ice .”, and “Forget Me Knot.”
A Very David Lynchian Aesthetic
Mink is carefully crafting a distinct visual style for his upcoming album, Terrified, heavily inspired by the work of director David Lynch and the atmosphere of California. The album’s lead single, “Night, Blooming Jasmine” – a phrase taken from an interview with Lynch and also inscribed on his gravestone – and its accompanying video are clear tributes to Lynch’s aesthetic. This week, mink also released a trailer that further develops this California-based creative world, evoking the feeling of Lynch’s film Mulholland Drive – which mink has repeatedly cited as his favorite movie. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, mink expressed his admiration for Lynch, saying he doesn’t often look up to people, but deeply respects the director. He also revealed that Terrified is filled with references to a variety of horror films, even some that are stranger than Lynch’s work.
Only Two Songs Have Samples
After creating his sample-filled album London Saviour, the artist mink has shifted gears with his latest work, which he produced himself. He told Zane Lowe that most of the new album doesn’t use any samples at all – only two songs include them.
The Entire Project Was Written by fakemink and His Close Friend
The entire album, Terrified, was not only created entirely on their own, but also written solely by the rapper, with help from a childhood friend named Rosh. Because of this close collaboration, the lyrics are expected to be deeply personal and reflective.
It’s Inspired by Dante’s Inferno
Last year, fakemink and his friends spent a few months in Los Angeles, an experience he admits was difficult but ultimately shaped his latest project. He describes the album’s beginning as mirroring his initial impressions of LA: dark and intense, with heavy bass, rhythmic drumming, and themes of desire and arrogance. He explains that the first eight tracks explore each of the seven deadly sins. As the album unfolds, the heavy bass gradually disappears, culminating in the final track, ‘Etna.’ This song is stripped down to just guitar and high frequencies, creating a calm, ambient atmosphere – a stark contrast to the album’s beginning.
A Terrified Book and Movie Are Both On the Way
Inspired by his experiences living in Los Angeles, fakemink explained to Lowe that his upcoming project, Terrified, will include both a book and a film. Both will expand on his personal stories and memories from his time in LA, written from his own perspective. He described the book as a behind-the-scenes look at his life in LA and New York, offering a deeply personal account of his and Rosh’s experiences. Interestingly, the book features a second, unnamed voice that comments on the narrative. fakemink intends the entire album to feel like an ‘exploitation track,’ starting with a deliberately unsettling first song.
Potential Features
Okay, so the buzz around the album’s features is kinda wild right now. At first, mink said there wouldn’t be any features, even before the official announcement. But then he dropped a bomb in an interview – there’s actually a secret feature, and even his own team doesn’t know who it is! Everyone’s guessing it’s Drake, honestly. I’ve seen other names floating around too, like Nettspend, EsDeeKid, zukovstheworld, Ghostinnafurcoat, and Rosh. It’s all just speculation at this point, but it’s got everyone hyped!
