Everything New to Watch on Netflix in March 2025

Prior to the Russo brothers getting back to Marvel to direct two fresh Avengers films, they’re set to debut The Electric State on Netflix first. This movie stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt in a science fiction journey through a dystopian future following the collapse after an unsuccessful robot rebellion (it seems even Mr. Peanut, the peanut mascot, has a robotic role in this story – I never knew that about him!).

Among the numerous titles hitting streaming platforms in March, The Electric State is certainly one of the highly anticipated ones, thanks to the team behind it. However, it’s just one among many movies and shows premiering throughout the month. For instance, there’s a new season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive, a fresh SpongeBob SquarePants movie, a new installment of reality series Temptation Island (don’t forget about that!), a documentary on Charles Manson, and another round of John Mulaney’s live talk show. Yet, even this list barely touches the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the abundance of content available for viewing during the month.

10 Movie and TV Stars Who Quit Show Business

Sean Connery

As a great admirer, I reflect on Sean Connery’s remarkable decision to accept the lead role in “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” despite being near the end of his action-star career. This adventure film, based on Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s renowned comic series, might have been just another project for him, but instead it became an experience he labeled as a “nightmare.” So much so, that it motivated him to retire from the film industry entirely. From 2003 until his passing at age 90 in 2020, Connery remained true to his words, only making one exception for a vocal performance in a Scottish animated movie titled “Sir Billi.

Daniel Day-Lewis

Acting isn’t a breeze for anyone, but Daniel Day-Lewis took it to another level with his meticulous approach, investing months, sometimes years, in research for each character. Given such dedication, it’s understandable that he might consider retirement at a young age. However, Day-Lewis announced his retirement after his 2017 role in “Phantom Thread”. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time he has retired from acting. In the late ’90s, he temporarily left the movie industry and developed an interest in shoemaking. He spent years honing his skills as a shoemaker in Italy before eventually returning to Hollywood. So, there’s always a possibility that after a few years of building houses or crafting artisanal cheese (or something else), he might decide to grace us with another performance.

Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox was initially diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1991 when he was just 30 and at the pinnacle of his stardom. He revealed his diagnosis a few years later, and though he ceased starring in his sitcom, “Spin City,” a few years after that, he remained active in work intermittently for quite some time. In fact, he even led another TV sitcom from 2013 to 2014 called “The Michael J. Fox Show.“. However, in his 2020 memoir, Fox announced that he was stepping away from acting “for now” due to ongoing health issues. Yet, he expressed in his book that things could change, as they often do, but if this marks the end of his acting career, so be it.

Greta Garbo

Greta Garbo, an iconic and stunning actress from the silent film era, seamlessly moved into the early phase of sound cinema. However, following a series of unsuccessful films in the late 1930s and early 1940s, she began to lose interest in the industry. Her last movie was “Two-Faced Woman,” released in 1941 when Garbo was just 35 years old. Despite considering several projects over the years, they all ultimately failed to materialize for various reasons, and she spent nearly five more decades away from acting.

In this version, I’ve tried to make the text more conversational and easy to read while maintaining the original meaning.

Cary Grant

Following nearly three decades as a highly esteemed leading man in Hollywood, Cary Grant opted for full retirement from acting during the mid-1960s. Growing discontented with the roles presented to him as he advanced in age, uneasy playing romantic leads opposite younger female counterparts, and with the arrival of his first child, he decided to step away from the limelight to dedicate himself to fatherhood. He subsequently devoted his later years to serving on the board of directors for MGM and Fabergé, as well as touring with a one-man show detailing his life experiences.

Gene Hackman

Between the 1970s and early 2000s, Gene Hackman was almost always seen on movie screens, playing both leading and supporting roles, as well as heroes and villains. In 2004, he opted to retire from acting; his last role was in the political satire “Welcome to Mooseport.” Since then, Hackman has taken up writing novels and can sometimes be spotted cycling near his home in New Mexico.

Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly, an esteemed actress known for films such as “High Noon” and “Rear Window”, chose to retire from Hollywood in 1956 to marry Prince Rainier of Monaco. At just 26 years old, she became a real-life princess. During her time as a royal, she also dedicated herself to philanthropy, working with numerous charitable organizations. Unfortunately, she passed away following a car accident in 1982 at the age of 52.

Ali MacGraw

Prior to her role in “Love Story,” a movie that eventually became one of the highest-grossing films of the ’70s and an iconic romantic drama, Ali MacGraw had only acted in two other productions. In addition to “Love Story,” she starred in three more films during the ’70s, including “The Getaway” alongside Steve McQueen, whom she later wed. At 83 years old, she has not been featured in any films since the start of the 21st century. However, she continues to do occasional television work, primarily providing voiceovers for documentaries.

Rick Moranis

80’s and 90’s children might recall Rick Moranis as one of the most iconic comedians of their era, largely due to films like Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. However, following his wife’s death from cancer in the early ’90s, Moranis chose to leave Hollywood to focus on raising their family. It wasn’t until recently that he began to re-enter the industry, making an appearance in a commercial and reportedly agreeing to reprise his role in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids for a new sequel. Nevertheless, this project was announced more than a year ago, and as of now, it has yet to come to fruition.

Robert Redford

In case you’re curious about Robert Redford’s absence from recent projects, it’s because the legendary actor chose to retire following his final performance in “The Old Man & the Gun” in 2018. At 80+ years old, he made a brief appearance in “Avengers: Endgame” the next year, but this role was filmed prior to his retirement announcement. Perhaps there’s a chance he might make a comeback for a special appearance on the newly announced “Butch & Sundance” TV series.
