Eva Mendes Tearfully Remembers Late Brother on Social Media

Eva Mendes expressed strong emotions on social media with a touching tribute dedicated to her deceased brother, Carlos Mendez.

On a recent Instagram post made on Monday, the actress from “The Hitch”, aged 51, shared some thoughts about her brother, who was set to celebrate his birthday within a few days.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Mendes’ elder brother, Carlos, passed away on April 17, 2016, merely two weeks after celebrating his 53rd birthday, due to cancer.

She posted a few selfies while strolling through the forest, starting her caption with: ‘If my brother were still here, today would have been his birthday on April 2.’

It’s been nearly 9 years since he departed. Just under two weeks afterwards, I welcomed our second child into the world. [heart emoji]

In simpler terms, Ryan Gosling’s companion mentioned their eight-year-old daughter, Amanda, during a tribute, expressing that as her brother’s upcoming event nears, she often looks for indications or messages from him who has passed away.

She added: ‘As his birthday approaches, I search for hints that might be from him. Admittedly, it could just be my imagination, but I prefer to think otherwise. It seems more romantic not to dismiss the possibility.’

Indeed, it seems like I’m noticing hearts more frequently these days and finding myself with an increased affection towards him. I have a feeling there are more such instances in the offing.

Eva’s younger brother Carlo Mendes, 47, commented on her post, writing: ‘I miss him so much.’

In simpler terms, the actress who played in “Training Day” shared thoughts about her brother’s passing coinciding with Amada’s birthday on April 29th, describing it as a challenging predicament.

She shared with People in November 2019 that the situation was incredibly difficult for her. However, she expressed gratitude for having given birth to her child just a week following his passing. This event served as a source of motivation for her to carry on. There was a certain poetic quality to everything that had transpired.

One memory she cherishes deeply with her brother is the time they spent together during holiday seasons.

I cherish the moments during Thanksgiving, large gatherings, or Christmas when he would playfully tease everyone, but especially you, quite rigorously.

Mendes expressed that he deeply misses the person and this sentiment is actually more profound than it seems, but he continues to uphold that tradition.

She went on saying, “I’m overjoyed that he gifted it to me! Frankly, I’m not sure I could have handled it as gracefully as he did, but those moments were thrilling because he was always so genuine.

Eva Mendes and her partner, Ryan Gosling, have been parents to their eldest daughter, Esmeralda (who is now 10 years old), since September 2014, and their younger daughter, Amada (who turned 8 in April 2016).

Last fall she revealed that they don’t let their daughters have social media or smartphones.

In a conversation with The Times, Mendes analogized letting his child browse the internet by saying, “Look something up,” to telling her, “Go for a walk alone at midnight; you’ll be alright.” This comparison highlights his concerns about the potential dangers of unsupervised internet usage.

‘I know that sounds extreme, but that’s what I feel,’ the actress added.

Mendes (known as Eva de la Caridad Mendez at birth) often talks about her and Gosling’s efforts to enlighten their children about their fortunate lifestyle in contrast to many individuals globally. They do this by recounting tales from their childhood, when they lived with limited financial resources.

The Miami, Florida native shared with them his story about what he lacked, what Ryan didn’t have as a child, the challenges we faced, our struggles during tough times when money was tight, and various other aspects of it, but they can only truly understand if they go through similar experiences themselves.

In various phases of her life, Mendes aims to foster self-worth by assigning household chores, which helps boost their confidence levels.

Mendes expressed that she continues to carry a lot of worry and fears, and she worries about potentially passing these feelings onto her own kids. Before making this admission, she mentioned that she was always a well-behaved child living in Miami, an upbringing she attributes to her late brother Carlos.

She remembered him saying, “Should I spot you anywhere with another person or smoking, I’d harshly punish both of them and make sure to educate you rigorously each day.” The threat kept her in line as she was a well-behaved child due to sheer fear.

During the interview, the retired actress credited Gosling with making her feel ‘sexy’ in her 50s.

At certain moments, she expressed her feelings exuberantly: “I can’t help but feel incredibly attractive!” She continued, “The admiration in my partner’s gaze leaves me speechless sometimes. It’s as if I exclaim, ‘Oh my goodness!’ It may not be suitable for everyone, but a large part of how I experience myself is influenced by the affection he shows me.

In August 2011, the two main characters of the intense crime drama “The Place Beyond The Pines” initially crossed paths following their agreement to take on leading roles in the movie.

The new couple wasted little time and started dating during the shoot of the film.

They made their romance official by attending Disneyland as a pair, where they were spotted strolling hand-in-hand and walking side by side.

Back in September of 2012, I couldn’t contain my excitement when the enchanting duo graced the red carpet for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival, shining brightly as they promoted their captivating movie, The Place Beyond The Pines.
