Eva Longoria’s Heartwarming Act of Kindness Amid LA Fires Will Leave You in Tears!
Eva Longoria followed through on her promises by actively participating in volunteer work during the catastrophic LA fires, only a few days after committing $1 million towards relief efforts.
49-year-old actress from Desperate Housewives, who was forced to leave her house in Southern California due to disaster, teamed up with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, This Is About Humanity, and other volunteers on Wednesday, providing aid to the stricken city.
In a full black outfit, complete with gloves and a Los Angeles baseball cap, Eva was spotted organizing emergency kits and helping workers with the clean-up tasks.
Without a moment’s thought, the director and producer rolled up their sleeves and jumped in to assist with removing fallen trees from the road.
Later, she embraced fellow volunteers with big hugs.
Following her commitment to offer her substantial $1 million donation to both the Latino Community Foundation and the California Community Foundation, she provides active assistance.
The organizations have promised to provide aid for both the short-term and long-term recovery of the communities affected by the devastating wildfires that lasted a week and hit the city.
Since the fires ignited on Tuesday, I’ve been among the countless individuals who have been compelled to leave our homes due to the devastation.
25 people have died so far, while over 40,000 acres have been charred by the extraordinary fires we’re witnessing.
Longoria recently received a generous donation worth $1 million, which came as a result of the Courage and Civility Award she was granted by Jeff Bezos in March.
Every year, a $50 million award is presented by Bezos to individuals who significantly contribute to our society.
Longoria has been given ten years to select a charity for her donation, and she has just decided that Los Angeles’ fire recovery will be the initial recipient, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
On Tuesday, during her co-hosting stint with Jenna Bush Hager on “Jenna & Friends,” she is expected to discuss further details about her donation.
After wrapping up her co-hosting job, Eva plans to head back to Los Angeles. There, she intends to contribute her time to the Global Empowerment Mission and make a stop at World Central Kitchen’s Eaton Fire relief efforts.
A woman, who has one child and is wedded to film producer José Bastón, struggled to hold back her emotions as she posted a heartfelt video on Instagram following the tragic aftermath of the fire.
Previously known for her role on Desperate Housewives, the actress disclosed that she had to leave her residence due to a warning, as she was entertaining guests who had already evacuated in response to the imminent fire threat.
As a lifestyle guide, I must share that this past week has been nothing short of chaotic. The impact on countless individuals has been heart-wrenching. I’ve seen friends endure unimaginable losses, and it’s the memories, the fruits of their hard labor, that are at stake. As I speak, my voice falters with the weight of these events.
She clarified that, after receiving a warning, we chose to leave due to the persistent alarm we were receiving.
She shared with her online audience, “Many people haven’t had as much luck as us. We’ve given away a lot of our clothes, and I mean, we practically cleaned out my pantry to drop off donations at all the places that are accepting them.
Eva also vowed to match up to $50,000 of donations made to the organization This is About Humanity.
The funds will go to essential workers and families impacted by the fires.
I’m deeply saddened by the city of Los Angeles and the destructive fires that have impacted countless lives. In response, I am personally contributing $50k to @thisisabouthumanity’s efforts aimed at aiding frontline workers, farmworkers, day laborers, and families affected by these wildfires.” (She shared this message in her video.)
She expressed, ‘Let’s unite and aid those sturdy individuals within our community. If you’re able, please share, retweet, or donate using the link provided in my profile.’
