Eva Longoria and A-List Stars Dazzle on Cannes Red Carpet at Mission Impossible Premiere

On Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival, while Tom Cruise’s newest Mission: Impossible movie had its debut, it was the women who were capturing attention on the red carpet.

Eva Longoria, Heidi Klum, Halle Berry, Zoe Saldana, and Andie MacDowell were among the stylish celebrities who graced the event for the premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

This year, one of the first movies to premiere at Cannes is the eagerly awaited eighth and last installment of the Mission Impossible series starring a popular Hollywood actor.

50-year-old actress Eva radiated elegance as she donned a stunning, emerald-green dress that accentuated her remarkable body shape.

The gown boasted a long, flowing skirt and a fitted midsection, and the actress from Desperate Housewives added elegance to her attire with green earrings.

Year after year, Eva gracefully adorned herself for the Cannes Film Festival by arranging her dark tresses in an elegant updo.

Heidi, aged 51, walked hand-in-hand with her stylish spouse Tom Kaulitz, who sported an open white shirt, exposing his chest.

It was clear that she had received the latest dress code update, since she showed up wearing a beautiful, shorter-train dress – a change from the extremely long gown she wore on the red carpet on Tuesday.

On the red carpet, the striking German woman captivated everyone’s attention in a shimmering blue-purple metallic dress featuring a heart-shaped neckline.

At the gathering, Halle captivated everyone with her entrance wearing a long, flowing black dress featuring an impressive train and delicate pink frills.

The ensemble showcased a corset-style upper piece, and the Academy Award recipient enhanced her silhouette with a set of black high heels.

Instead, Zoe chose a less extravagant style for the nighttime event, wearing a simple, sleeveless black dress.

At the premiere, actress Emilia Perez, 46, wore a sleek outfit consisting of a garment paired with a black leather jacket. She was accompanied by her husband, Marco Perego-Saldana.

67-year-old Andie caught everyone’s attention with her elegant attire. She wore a stylish, well-tailored suit, complemented by shiny dress shoes and an oversized bow tie.

The current star, Tom Cruise, walked the red carpet alongside his radiant co-stars Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Hannah Waddingham, as well as other notable figures.

In this sentence, I’ve used “current” to imply that Tom Cruise is popular or in vogue at the moment, and “radiant” and “notable” are used to describe the women he was joined by on the red carpet. The phrase “a host of famous faces” implies a large number of well-known individuals were also present.

The film, which has faced multiple delays, is finally due to hit cinemas on May 23 2025.

At a photo event earlier in the day, Hayley went all out with an extravagant, feather-trimmed, full white skirt, captivating everyone with her radiant charm under the morning sunshine.

As a die-hard admirer, I’d be all about scaling back the dazzle with a minimalist yet classy white pullover, complemented by a pair of sunglasses, striking a pose for the photographers outside Palais des Festivals.

Hannah was equally glam in a floral beaded dress, flaunting her Cannes tan.

Tom meanwhile stuck to his tried and tested look of biceps-baring polo shirt in a deep red colour.

Simon put on a very dapper display in a cream suit, adding a glittering gold gun pendant.

The Cannes Film Festival first appeared during the era of World War II, as the growth of fascism in Italy prompted the establishment of a competition to counteract the government control over the Venice Film Festival at that time.

Since then, Cannes’ unwavering dedication to the art of cinema has attracted numerous filmmakers, making it a shining example and a place where many directors establish their reputation.

2023 is no less exceptional, as several first-time filmmakers at Cannes have already gained recognition ahead of time. Specifically, Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great) and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) are set to premiere their first directorial features within the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes.

Notably, many seasoned attendees will return, among them Robert De Niro – honored with a Palme d’Or this year, 49 years after his debut in Cannes with Taxi Driver – and Quentin Tarantino, who will commemorate the work of low-budget Western director George Sherman.

Over the past few years, the dazzling event on the Croisette has perhaps attracted more focus on the stylish attire of its famous attendees rather than the lineup of movies being shown.

However, this year’s festival has introduced stricter dress codes, supposedly for the upholding of decency.

As reported by event organizers, this strict decision aims to curb the fashionable trend of revealing outfits among celebrities, often referred to as ‘naked dresses’, which showcase far more than they cover, on the red carpet.

According to a Cannes Festival guideline, it’s important to note that showing nudity is not allowed on the red carpet or anywhere else within the festival grounds, for reasons of decency.

At the festival, those responsible for greeting guests must ensure that only individuals adhering to these guidelines are granted access to the red carpet.

The recently published festival-goers charter includes unexpected additions to its policies, which provide guidelines on what the public is anticipated to do.

Visitors should gather at the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière for some of the most prestigious movie showings during a busy two-week span, which is taking place in Cannes.

It’s clear that the famous location has shifted towards a stricter dress code, preferring formal attire like suits, tuxedos, and long evening gowns instead of eye-catching outfits.

In addition to classic little black dresses, cocktail dresses, formal pantsuits, fancy blouses, and refined sandals (either flat or with a heel), are also acceptable for the occasion.

It’s uncertain whether French TV broadcasters, who are cautious about showing nudity, had any influence on the decision to enforce this stricter policy for the first time.

As a devoted cinephile, I eagerly await the broadcast of prestigious red-carpet events like the Cannes Film Festival on France Télévision. It’s like being right there amidst the glitz and glamour!
