It proved to be another unsuccessful year for the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Yesterday evening, the climactic event of this year’s competition unfolded in Basel, Switzerland, where Remember Monday, representing the United Kingdom, performed their song titled “What The Hell Just Happened?”.
In summary, after both the jury and public votes were considered, it was determined that Monday placed 19th overall, accumulating a total of 88 points. Notably, all these points were awarded by the jury.
In other words, the band didn’t receive any points from the public voting, indicating that no nation chose to give them points. This is the second consecutive year that the United Kingdom hasn’t received any public votes.
Contrarily, there was progress compared to the previous year’s entries, as the 2024 contest saw Olly Alexander placing 18th overall, accumulating 46 points.
Or more casually:
Last year wasn’t great in terms of entry points, but this time around, things improved. In the 2024 competition, Olly Alexander managed to score 46 points and place 18th.

2021’s contest was claimed victorious by Austria, as JJ from their team secured the leading position scoring an impressive 436 points with their heartfelt tune titled ‘Wasted Love’.
In a heartfelt manner, JJ expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m deeply grateful, Europe. My thanks come straight from the depths of my heart.” As they hoisted the trophy, this was what he conveyed.
In the competition, Israeli artist Yuval Raphael earned 357 points, landing him in the second position, while Estonia secured 356 points to claim the third spot.

Recall Monday, the group that became the first to represent the UK since 1999 in a girlband capacity, collaborated on the song ‘What The Hell Just Happened’ with Brit Award-nominated songwriters Billen Ted, Thomas Stengaard, and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard.
Earlier, when discussing their role as a representative of the UK, they expressed that they were feeling just as puzzled and astonished as everyone else by saying, “That’s Exactly What Happened to Us!” or simply, “We’re as Baffled as Everyone Else: ‘What Just Occurred?’
It’s quite strange, really – our friendship has such a long history, and I never would have thought we’d find ourselves in a situation like this.
If you’re a child and someone asks about your future aspirations, it’s common to say, “I want to become a pop star.” So, the fact that we get to experience this dream as three close friends is truly mind-blowing.
