This game is really tough for European fans to watch, as one of their teams will definitely be eliminated. Given how the European teams haven’t been playing at their best, it’s also fair to say that at least one of them will move on to the next round.
Beginning with Round 3 of the Swiss Stage at Worlds 2025, teams will start being eliminated. Two teams will unfortunately be defeated 3-0. One of these matches will be a tough battle between MKOI and Fnatic, pitting two European teams against each other.
Both KOI and Fnatic were eliminated from the tournament after each team lost two matches. Fnatic lost to CFO and BLG, while KOI was defeated by KT Rolster and G2 Esports. This means a matchup between European teams happened at Worlds 2025, even this early in the competition.
With so much on the line, the League of Legends esports event promises to be amazing! One team will need to demonstrate they deserve to represent Europe and advance to the Playoffs.

Head-to-head and international record
As MKOI and FNC head into their Worlds 2025 elimination match, both teams have a good understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. They frequently compete against each other as the top teams in the EMEA League of Legends Championship (LEC).
The most recent matches in the LEC season 2025 were in the Summer split Playoffs.
- KOI defeated Fnatic in the upper semifinal to send the opponents to the lower brackets.
- Then KOI won the lower final to eliminate Fnatic.
Historically, Fnatic and G2 both represented Europe in international competitions. However, the situation changed significantly in 2025.
- MKOI hit international events for the first time ever. The team reached the top 8 at the MSI and the LoL Esports World Cup 2025.
Fnatic consistently finished in the top eight in 2024, but this marks the first time this particular roster is competing on the international stage.
If we win this match, we’ll advance to the next round, and we’ll need to win two more games after that. The Swiss stage continues until October 25th, and the Playoffs begin on October 28th.
Both MKOI and FNC will be back in their regional leagues shortly, no matter how they perform at the League of Legends World Championship 2025. The LEC Winter 2026 season starts in January.
