Ethan Slater’s Oscars Interview Called ‘Hard Watch’ Amid Ariana Grande Questions
Some viewers found Ethan Slater’s interview with Access Hollywood tough to watch due to his response when asked about his relationship with Ariana Grande.
As he lounged on the rug, he conversed with a representative (or contact), and was queried regarding Ariana Grande, who had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal in Wicked.
The reporter inquired about the star’s girlfriend’s mood tonight, as it was shown in a video shared on TikTok.
In response, he chuckled and said, ‘Oh, you mean Ariana? She’s doing great.’
He exclaimed how thrilled she was, and we were just as elated; it’s hard to fathom, but I find myself fortunate enough to attend the Oscars – absolutely incredible!
They started dating back in the summer of 2023, though rumors surfaced later suggesting they had a romantic relationship for several months prior, with their bond deepening during filming for Wicked.
Previously, Grande was wedded to Dalton Gomez, while Slater was hitched to Lilly Jay, the mother of his two-year-old child.
Jay had moved to London, where Slater was filming Wicked, with their newborn at the time.

Despite spending a considerable amount of time together, it appears their connection hasn’t been warmly embraced by their fanbase.
In the comments section of the TikTok, many admitted that it was a hard interview to watch.
‘Hard watch, thanks,’ one person wrote.
‘What other girl does he have lmao,’ someone else typed.
‘Hard watch, they didn’t sit next to or near each other at the Oscars,’ another pointed out.
One user commented, ‘Hey this relationship isn’t cute!’
‘Like who he think they was talking about fr,’ a second person wrote.
In a piece published by The Cut last December, Slater’s former spouse shared insights about her journey as a solo parent and the conclusion of their long-term relationship that spanned over a decade.

‘Motherhood, I have learned, fills your time but not your mind,’ she wrote.
During the numerous moments I cradle my child to sleep, guide his pram, and admire his tiny, perspiring fingers clutching a crayon, I devote myself tirelessly to my personal endeavor – coming to terms with the abrupt shift in privacy that came with the public decline of my marriage.
She continued: ‘This, I tell myself, is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide.’
Jay pondered over the fact that just as no one enters a marriage with the intention of getting divorced, similarly, no one boards an airplane with the expectation of crashing.
However, I honestly didn’t expect to go through a divorce. Particularly so soon, following the birth of our first child, and under the circumstances of my spouse’s budding relationship with a famous figure like Grande, as Jay mentioned, hinting at their association.
Even though they are no longer together, she continues to commend Slater for his exceptional role as a co-parent. She explained that although their relationship as partners may have transformed, the nature of their parenthood has remained unchanged.
